Spain's Socialist Party prime minister-elect has confirmed his intention to pull Spanish troops out of Iraq. Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said: "The war in Iraq was a disaster, the occupation of Iraq is a disaster."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our enemies can claim a victory on 311.
The press has blood on its hands.
The Socialist Party is not concerned with freedom, justice, human rights, or truth.
Pray for our troops.
God bless America.

if I remember correctly Franco was an ally of Hitler. You don't remember correctly. During the Spanish Civil War, Britain & France had a policy of "non-intervention" in that war, the Republican (communist) side was getting arms from Stalin (and deluded Americans) so the Nationalist side (Franco) had nowhere to buy arms except from the Fascist powers, who were happy to have a chance to field-test them before they started WWII. Spain had no involvement in WWII at all, except to shelter Jews who escaped from France.
I'm sure freedom moose can expand on this.

We didn't have any help in the Pacific theater. And I don't think you can compare the casualty statistics because Stalin believed in the human wave and devalued human life. We tried to minimize our casualites with mixed success.

And what did exactly Spain do in WW II to fight Hitler? Gee, if I remember correctly Franco was an ally of Hitler. As was much of the Arab world.
These people really think that by appeasing the Islamofascists they can avoid their attacks. Clearly they don't understand the teaching of Islam. The jihadists may put Spain on a backburner for a while, but they'll be back.

The terrorists win. I see AQ attacking the US shortly before our election in November, hoping for a similar result. They'll be unpleasantly surprised, since American's NEVER vote Democrat when they feel threatened.

Why do the socialist Spaniards think by voting in someone that will capitulate and bend over for terrorists they will be safer?
I'm waiting for the new PM to say this will bring "PEACE IN OUR TIME."!!

March 15 (Bloomberg) -- Spain's 1,300 soldiers in the U.S.- led coalition in Iraq will be withdrawn unless there is a United Nations mandate requesting their presence, Prime Minister-elect Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said today Another step toward having ALL military personnel controlled by the UN- an idea that John Kerry supports.

When the first AlQaeda bombs go off in England, Denmark, and Poland, those countries can thank Spain.

Poland knows the cost of appeasement. They spent most of the 20th century in bondage because of it...
I hope that the populace has the mettle, should AQ come visiting...
And don't forget to pray for our Polish pope -- a doubly-inviting target for evil...
To: Rutles4Ever
Of course, Poland will be in my prayers, as will all our allies.

Thanks for letting us know. At least there's somebody out there in Europe who's not a bunch of wimps.
To: Cronos
Sounds to me like AQ is following Hitler's strategy of praying upon the fears of the populace. If so, then Russia might be pretty easy.

About 15 percent of our war effort was directed against Japan. Japan was never priority one. And without question Stalin's military had tactics that needlessly raised casualties. But that still doesn't even make up for the scale of German committment of the Eastern Front as compared to the Western. If anything- the brutal tactics that sent Russian soldiers needlessly to their deaths most likely prolonged the war in the East.
