It looks like about a 40 minute walk from Takoma Metro to Walter Reed. Is that about right?

I don't think the walk is
that long. Maybe 6-8 blocks. I see WR soldiers walking from Metro every morning as I drive by.
Side street parking should be available, as many folks leave their homes for work. Aspen, Butternut, Dahlia, 6th, 5th... other names I can't recall right now.

Would love to be there in the morning. But let me be honest, after the travel from Richmond to Hershey today, I am white knuckled out for a few days.
I was doing 70 and felt like I was standing still with 18 wheelers and other crazy drivers passing me.
I still want to know why these people are doing this on a Monday. I said it earlier, PROFESSIONAL PROTESTERS?
I would bet the "Fry Mumia" sign would go over good here. Sounds like they're sending in the flee bags from Philly. I just don't get their protest here on a Monday.
I am asking a legitimate question: "Where are they getting protesters on a Monday?????????".

Bill, I just found your ping to this thread (I get
so many pings lately). Thanks for the heads up.
I can't do much but wish our DC-area FReepers well tomorrow (in a few hours, actually). I'll be with you in spirit up here in CT.
BTTT!

Kristinn, tgslTakoma and BillF are at Walter Reed Army Hospital right now waiting (with a few leftists and loads of media personnel) for the bus with the anti-war contingent to arrive.

"I am very interested in photos for this atrocity."Yes, me too. I didn't know where Walter Reed Army Hospital was compared to the White House. I did a mapquest and found it is about 6 miles apart. So, them being on a bus now makes sense.
So, my question remains, "Who are these professional protesters?"

I'm back home for a quick bite to eat, and then I'm off to stand against them at Lafayette Park.
Kristinn, me and BillF stood on Georgia Avenue, first at the entrance to Walter Reed - across the driveway from a clutch of leftist-supporters wearing black and flaunting black wreaths.
And of course, the media was out there in droves, to cover the leftist blood dance.
The leftist photo-op was being set up halfway down the block - they set up a podium with amplified sound, in a hospital zone where our soldiers are trying to heal wounds.
The three of us walked silently down the sidewalk to the back of their gathering, and then we stood away from them, in the street between parked cars, and we held our signs in silent witness to their exploitation of our wounded and dead soldiers.
Kristinn's two-sided sign sign read: s1) Leave Our Wounded Alone, and s2) God Bless Our Troops
My two-sided sign read: s1) Leftists Exploit Military K.I.A. For Blood Dance, and s2) U.S. Troops -Mission IS Just & Good. God Bless Them.
BillF had several signs, but he'll have to tell you what they said, as I was preoccupied by the activities swirling around us.
I did have one self-described socialist peace protester who kept stalking me, trying to make me listen to his rant. I finally picked up my things and tried to walk away from him and he blocked my way, shoving me repeatedly. I tried to turn right and he pushed his guitar case into me, again blocking me. I turned the other way (towards the street) and he pushed into me again, placing his hands on me and shoving me backwards into traffic. I raised my voice very loud and called out for him to stop shoving me and to let me pass. Camera crews swarmed over to where we were and he continued to bodily block my passage down the street and shoved me several more times, with cameras rolling. It will be interesting to see if any of that makes it to broadcast.
I'll post more later but right now I have to inhale a sandwich and hit the road for round two, with Angelwood, BillF and Kristinn (if he can get away from work again).
Wish us well fellas (and pray that there is no more left-wing violence and intimidation).

Thank you for the up-date and good luck on round two.
Just heard from kristinn and he said their were about 100 of them to you 3. Hey, the odds are getting better.
This particular protest from them really frosts me. We want to thank the three of you for being there. You represent the voice of millions behind you.
Class act, I like the way you kept quiet in a quiet zone while the scumb disturbed healing soldiers.

Three members from my family were there.
Pray for me.
