But because it was proposed by Republican Schwarzenegger, who is trying to avoid a tax increase, it pulls at Republicans to rally around him Don't do it. Your right about doing the right thing - vote NO on 56, 57 AND 58. READ 58 - it's not good.
The Cal Constitution has everything it needs - if the laws are followed. Remember that Arnold said he would use the line item veto? So do. The cuts MUST be made - otherwise, we're just Mexico's Welfare Wagon. Personally, I don't recall being told by my family that being born an American mean't that I owed Vicente Fox a thing. Ultimately, that's what this is about.
Just say No. Arnold will have to deal with it. Comes with the territory. He's trying to put through a political deal to avoid hard choices.

CHEERS for Kaloogian and Tancredo from the invaded state of California.
To: janetgreen
You woulda liked being there, JG...me and the wife felt good
all day long after that. Like we weren't alone...
But then, when I talk to people one on one, it seems like everyone feels like me. They're just afraid to say it for fear of being shouted down.

ANY Republican who can beat Boxer.
It looks like Kaloogian is not the one -- he is too busy booing and attacking Bush, doesn't have time to attack Boxer.

And you still don't know what you're talking about. You evidently weren't there.
Talk facts, not baseless opinions.

What's wrong with booing the President when he's WRONG on the issue of illegal immigration? He's wrong, he's losing us (well, except Gay Marriage is solidifying us back in). He's just wrong, and the amnesty program is wrong.
You don't reward people for breaking the law. Not even Gavin Newsom.

Re: Prop 57/58, you said:
The last two polls showed about 42% of Republicans supporting it to 37% opposing it.
What polls were those?
The numbers sound more like the statewide polls... both Republicans AND Democrats.
I believe there is a STRONG majority of Republicans who oppose it... much more than 42%
Both initiatives have been endorsed by the Democratic Party, Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, the SEIU, CTA, etc.
What does that tell you?
I strongly oppose both initiatives.

The article said the attendees booed Bush, I haven't heard anyone say that the attendees didn't boo.

And check out the reports from the FReepers who were there - the proposal for 'amnesty on the installment plan' and for drivers' licenses for illegal aliens was what was booed.
NOT - President Bush or Arnold Schwarznegger.
We disagree with these two on these two issues and we are rallying Republicans to come out to make it clear that these proposals are WRONG.
You seem to have a problem with that which is rather sad.
Seems you'd rather have Bush and Schwarzenegger alienate their base and L O S E.
Am I to presume you are not a Republican?

Sure, people who want to see Republicans elected and re-elected are not Republicans, but those who work tirelessly AGAINST Republicans actually winning, are the "real Republicans" according to you.
I was not going to post to this thread at all, but when I read that our fine "so-called conservatives" actually stooped so low as to boo President Bush, that was more, than I could stomach.

This is what you said. Kaloogian was very diplomatic when the audience booed Bush's illegal immigration plan. Vicente Fox was also part of those boos too, but again Kaloogian was calm, cool, collected, and diplomatic. And Boxer was slammed. You would have known that had you been there. You're spinning as usual.

Nah - that was Public Policy Institue of California (PPIC) of JUST Republican voters.
Democrats have opposed it by an almost 20% margin.
Schwarzenegger's done a good job at selling his message to GOPers that "this package is either a vote FOR me or a vote AGAINST me" - he's got the entire GOP establishment to support him... all 58 County Republican Chairman have backed him, Congressman Darrell Issa has backed him, even conservative Republican legislators like Dennis Mountjoy and Ray Haynes have signed on to the plan. Roger Hedgecock of KOGO San Diego backs both 57 and 58 as does KTKZ Sacramento's Eric Hogue.
I voted NO on all the initiatives this year. So I am with you. But it has amazed me to see how effectively the Governor has used his popularity to get all the party establishment (including conservatives) to rally around him on the bonds.
Now... the establishment and rank-and-file are two different things... so we'll see if the bonds pass. But right now it's the MAJORITY of Democrats opposing the bonds (because they are Arnold's bonds) that has 57 trailing in the polls. Amazing since Democrats notoriously L O V E every bond or tax increase proposed.

Naw, keep bumping this thread. You only expose yourself more and help our cause in the process. Kudos!

You don't have to worry about my votes... I already voted NO by absentee... and KALOOGIAN for Senate.
But, that said, for the reasons given in my posts, I don't have animosity towards Arnold for his bond package. I oppose it, but I just feel he is misguided.... I don't feel like he believes he is 'selling out' or anything like that.
Again, the drivers' license proposal by Gil Cedillo... on that one I think he's flip-flopped after making a campaign promise, so I hold resentment on that one!

"Kaloogian was very diplomatic when the audience booed Bush's illegal immigration plan. "
==
In other words he did NOT discourage the audience from booing the President.

So, on WHAT issues are Republicans allowed to disagree with their president since sovereignty and immigration aren't legitimate issues to rally against in your opinion?
