Single issue voter? That's kinda narrow, aint' it?
Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but that wasn't the question.
Just suppose illegal immigration was at the top of a person's priority list. Whether you disagree with that priority or not (everyone is entitled to his or her own issues). Which candidate would you personally recommend to such a voter? Naturally it would be a candidate who would enforce the nation's immigration laws.
In you ropinion, who should that person vote for?
I can't confirm or deny your personal experience, but my experience is quite different. Most republicans that I know are very dissappointed with the proposal.
And many Senate Republicans report that their constituents have relayed to them that they are very disturbed by the proposal. There was an article here just to this affect not more than a week ago.
Maybe you don't hang out with conservative. It's none of my business.
And the polls show it's not a very important issue, the Johnny One Notes on FR not withstanding.
I think you are wrong. I think the Republican Representatives have reported that they have been given an earful on the matter by the people they represent. They passed this on to GWB's on advisor's. I don't know which polls you are referring to, but if this was put to the Republican voterbase as a whole, I think it would be rejected by a wide margin.
Which poll are you aware of that shows overwhelming Republican support for the "Guest Worker" program. I'd like to review it.
It looks like kerry is going to take the BUTS in Nov. A real grASS movement.
You have to convince people to actually go to the polls.
(Chuckle) I always enjoy the amusing repartee here on FR. We both know such a strategy would be as pointless - indeed, as pathetic - as the old "Whip Inflation Now" campaign.
I'm proud Bush is forcing a debate on what we can realistically do. His "plan" didn't have enough detail for an intelligent person to judge it, but that hasn't stopped a lot of idiots from ranting about what they read into it.
Before the election the issue will be clearer as the congress will be debating the issue. Come the election, I doubt many will be voting for the cattlecars- but for the wisest thing we can do.
Then what should the INS do with people who are in the country illegally?
Why does it have to be a cattlecar? It is interesting that your mind conjured up that image. Maybe it's a subliminal thing.
Is everyone who is deported, deported in a a cattlecar? I think they usually bus them back to Mexico, or fly them back if they came from overseas. This is quite humane. Other countries impose some harsh penalties for illegal entry into their countries. We simply send them back and drop them off and say "try again". Wow, how harsh.
Deportation of those here illegally, coupled with agressive border control could probably be pulled off without a cattlecar. Don't you think?

His plan is somewhat detailed on the web. Someone posted a link to it the other day. I believe the screen name "Porterville" posted it. Search for it, and see what is publically available. Perhaps he would be good enough to re-post it.
Furthermore, your comments have well illustrated the primary problem with what we know of his program. Suppose the "guest workers" decide not to leave after their "3 years" is up? What are we going to do? Pack them into cattlecars and send them back to Mexico?
Of course not.
So, you see, the program really doesn't solve anything at all.

Again with the cattlecars? You like those things or something? Like I said, I believe they use buses, ships, and airplanes ... but you've gone on record as pretty much being against deportation of any kind. Doesn't that basically leave any kind of "guest" plan castrated if the "guest" status isn't enforced by deportation? Deporation (cattlecars as you call it), is the enforcement of our Federal Immigration Laws. If we don't enforce them, what is the point of any "program"?
I knew you would be to one with your simplistic fantasies.
It's not at all subliminal with you is it?
"you've gone on record as pretty much being against deportation of any kind. "
Ah, lying. It didn't take long, but why should it for people like you?

If I have misrepresented your position, I apologize. Please feel free to correct me. Under what conditions do you support deportation, and in what manner do you feel that people should be deported (if at all)?
LOL. "Liar". Liar, liar, liar. You guys love tossing that one around. Hey, why not ... if you can't rebut the message, the messenger is the next best thing.
How about this? I think Bush is "lying" by calling it a "Guest Worker Program", because it is actually Amnesty.
Rewarding illegal immigration with renewable legal work permits, without outlining an enforcement strategy = Amnesty. At least it means that to me.
Because you disagree with someone does not make them a liar, although using buzzwords instead of rationed arguements is much easier. Personal attacks have been a staple of the "open the border" crowd for as long as I can remember, and I would be suprised if it wasn't the standard arguement for the forseeable future.
Lies, and the lying liars that tell them. That's probably a book you'd like. It's got your entire rebuttal to everything right in the title.
Well, let's hear it "Stu". You're on every thread with your ranting- let's get some detail on what you think. Or are you afraid to let people know?

Isn't that called "answering a question with a question"? Why not give your opinion, and i'll give mine. How can you throw out an accusation of cowardice when you refuse to provide an answer yourself? It wasn't even your question, it was mine. You haven't even forumlated a coherent question or arguement all day. Don't try to piggyback on someone else's. That is intellectually lazy.
You've been all over the threads thowing out personal attacks. Then, someone asks you a cordial, serious question about your opinion, and the best that you can do is to completely dodge it?
I'm disappointed. I was actually interested in your opinion. It's too bad that you cannot eleborate on your position beyong the word "liar".
Do you want to give it another go?
Here is the question again. Give it some thought, and your personal opinion as to the answer:
MrSmith,
Under what conditions do you support deportation, and in what manner do you feel that people should be deported (if at all)?
