Banning sucks eh?
Frequently. You can't beat orgiastic, Lord of the Flies-style glee at a mass banning, though. Conditioned response to the daily zot threads, I suppose.

A lot of brutality on this thread. I like it.
Sort of resembles what Michael Savege calls "psychological nudity."

There are approximately 30 or 40 families that own the major forms of media in this country? Do you think that we hear what is really going on? Do me a favor, go to a newstand and buy a European paper printed in English and compareYou're really not helping your "Not A Troll" case with such conspiracy-theory stuff. Just my opinion.
And by the way, outside of the UK, the largest-circulation English-language paper in Europe is the Int'l Herald-Tribune, but THAT paper is essentially "The New York Times International Edition": it is co-published by the NYT.

This is true. Do you know that the major forms of media in this country or owned by 30 or 40 families. You hear what they want you to hear.I don't know about that... I always thought there thousands of stockholders...
Anyways. I despise the media.

No, but I do not think or thoughts or opinions should be censored or someone who surfs a website has a right to critique what we have to say as long as it is not offensive or vulgar

I was just sitting here wondering why you weren't married, too. I'm surprised some good conservative woman hasn't snatched you up.
And I'll vouch for you anywhere, anytime. You went one on one with "The Man."

What is a Troll???? I was taught as a young child that a troll is a hideous creature that live under a bridge that wants to harm children. As a child, I understood that there is no such thing as a troll, much less trolls that live under bridges. I knew that people generally build bridges to get over obstacles, and that liberals use the emotional appeal of children to promote bogus causes that stripped my parents hard-earned dollars from their paychecks, and that liberals most often used fairy tales to instill fear in their base to make this theft possible.
Apparently, there are a few subscribers to Free Republic that consider themselves the Troll Patrol. Some authors of Posts to the Free Republic website are accused of being "Trolls".
No doubt. Would you prefer another term? The term may have to do with the nature of the post- often a predictable and memorized leftwing talking point unsupported by fact- just like fairy tales about trolls. Trolls also have a habit of hit-and-run posting- they post, but then don't return to respond to others' arguments.
These people, whom call themselves the Troll Patrol,
This is the first I've ever heard of the term. Can you name names?
are trying to intimidate Americans who are wanting to express their thoughts and concerns to keep their thoughts to themsleves.
I doubt that, given that trolls tend to produce material which isn't exactly original- in other words, it's the same old garbage spewed over and over and over in the hopes that people will tire of posting replies to it, and so, leave it be as a sort of unanswered propaganda poster posted free on FreeRepublic's- meaning JimRob's- server.
This is an attempt to enforce censorship
Nonsense- FreeRepublic is not a government, nor does it have the power or ability to censor anyone. Any person who gets zotted here can go start their own web forum, or find one more suitable where they will be welcomed. Since FreeRepublic cannot prevent anyone from doing just that, obviously it cannot do harm to anyone's ability to express themselves.
or pressure someone not to express themselves.
Do you or do you not acknowledge the right of a person to determine who enters their home? FreeRepublic is not some government-funded entity, it is private property. The owner has every right to determine who posts here, how often, when, or what he will allow them to post on his property.
When you start your own website, you can make your own rules, just as you do in your own home.
I would like to say to the Troll Patrol that this in not the old USSR or Nazi Germany in the 40's.
I think they are already more aware of that than you- this is not 1940s Germany and not the USSR- this website is not state-run or communal property as some trolls apparently think it is.
This is the United States of America and we do have freedom of speech in this country.
This is the USA, that's true enough. And so, your fellow Americans do NOT have to provide you with the means, such as a special forum for you to exercise your free speech.

I'm more of a social darwinist, if you can't compete, too bad. Nothing beats a long drawn out flame war from time to time.
BTW, a very revealing one has been going on all week at the tinfoil place....:)
