putin could teach some folks how to fight a war on terror. good for the russians! Not necessarily an operation directed on Putin's orders. There are many in the FSB who follow another's flag.
And of course it's possible that Yandarbiyev was killed by his own enemies from within his own circle, or those seeking advancement, or in a *work accident* with a device intended for another target.
Anyway, he's gone. And it looks like fine payback for the Moscow subway blast, even if not direct resulting from that event.
