We have an extremely narrow, paper majority in the Senate that cannot be in control as long as the Dems have any hope of regaining power at all. We have Republicans who vote w/the Dems. So, there goes the *sympathetic Congress* argument.

Being a *principled conservative* is the best present the Dems have had in ages. They are using it to marginalize the entire right.

If we had a Republican super majority, w/o a Republican President, we would not have gridlock. We would have deals being cut by the Dems in order that the business of the country proceeds.

I think the POTUS has to do the political equivalent of driving a professional obstacle course, rather than just choosing brakes or gas at the edge of a cliff. And he has to do it w/a car full of hornets and some live fire along the route, as well.

No President can *kick* the Congress into submission. Our Constitution won't allow it and if any President tried it, it would be usurption of power, fascism, dictatorship and he would be impeached....rightly.

As to the government stealing your money, that is exactly the talking points I am hearing today from die-hard Democrats. "Stealing us blind" is another one. Are you on their email alert list?

Here are two big, humongous examples that prove that he is conservative, God-fearing, and life-loving--
*Ban against Partial-Birth Abortion
*Against gay marriage

Many more examples, but these two are two of the most important ones that will raise America's values as a whole.

It may increase your self-esteem to call those who criticize GWB Buchananites, but you're deluding yourself, and may be contributing to Bush's electoral defeat. You are absolutely right! There will NEVER be a president who will satisfy everyone on every issue. Do you KErry supporters think you will agree with EVERY ONE of his decision?

We must vote for the man who has character to stand up to do what he thinks is right, despite polls or pressure from either side. President Bush does this. We MUST re-elect him for the good of our country. It's not just a war against terror, it's a war of good vs. evil.

They try to tell us they're more conservative than the rest of us because they want "smaller" government.

In point of fact, those that want smaller government are indeed more conservative than those who want larger government.

That issue aside, there's a lot to be said for pragmatism. Criticism has its place, but on election day conservatives need to set their disagreements aside and vote for Bush/Cheney. Once the administration returns for a second term, the pressure can resume to begin moving right.

I think the problem w/y'all is that you just cannot stand it that so many of us appreciate, love and respect George W Bush. In fact, like Perot, I wonder at times if it is personal? I know the Dems hate him irrationally and I have come to accept that the true conservatives do, as well.

Thank you so much for saying this. I've believed for some time that the battles we are fighting, both the political battles here, and the real battles overseas, are not battles of ideology or party. They are battles in a wider spiritual war for the soul of this nation. The self-appointed purists are, frankly, MIA in this battle. Anyone MIA abets and comforts the enemy. If they want to sit out the election, they have my blessing. Let those who understand what is really going on in this nation do the heavy lifting and the necessary spiritual warfare. We do not need to be encumbered by incessant naysayers who neurotically crave our attention. Kick them to the side of the road, and let's keep moving.

You can swing to our strong, capable President who is protecting this nation, supporting the military, and bringing us back towards morality........OR, you can swing toward John Kerry, the UN over our sovereignty, disregard for the needs of our military, higher taxes...........
