A guy who (1) gets a Botox injection and (2) won't be honest about it. Contemptible behavior, but speaks volumes about character, which is much more important than wrinkles on the skin.

FARGO, N.D. (Reuters) - Not even Democratic elections in seven states in a couple of days were going to get in the way of a Patriots fan and his football team.

Presidential candidate John Kerry of Massachusetts paused his political campaign on Sunday to take in the Super Bowl matchup between the New England Patriots and the Carolina Panthers.

Kerry, an avid Patriots fan, scrapped plans to leave for Albuquerque, New Mexico, after a campaign stop in Fargo, North Dakota, fearful he might miss some of the game. He was headed instead to a downtown bar and planned to leave afterward.

The front-running candidate, a four-term senator from Massachusetts, opened a rally earlier in the day noting that the Patriots were playing the Panthers in Houston, Texas, home of President Bush.

"I'm going to watch the Super Bowl in Fargo with North Dakota patriots ... who want to send George Bush back to Texas permanently," Kerry said.

There was no bet between Kerry and his Democratic rival, Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina, who was campaigning furiously in South Carolina, the state where he was born and has said he must win to keep his campaign alive.

Most oddsmakers have the Patriots as a seven-point favorite, and the latest Reuters/MSNBC/Zogby poll shows Kerry and Edwards in a virtual tie ahead of South Carolina's Tuesday contest.

I've been watching the Superbowl highlights on ESPN for the last few hours. I'm going to try my John Facenda/Earl Mann imitation.

I see it's never too early for a live thread.

Ahh, Survivor. That and TV commercials. That's what I'm here for. :) My prediction for the game is that it'll be highlighted by bad officiating, bad plays, and noisy fans with a halftime show that is marked by boredom, stars that should have been put on the shelf years ago..

Here's another actual betting proposition...

Will the Super Bowl TV ratings be over or under 40% of the country?

Over- 3 to 5
Under- 6 to 5

Also Maxim magazine has set the odds that Steven Tyler will break his hip while performing at the Super Bowl at 100 to 1.

continental airlines has been told to cancel a domestic (not international) flight from DC heading to Houston this afternoon because of terror concerns not related to the super bowl (yeah right).

I think that was the original line put out two weeks ago once the teams were known. It may have fluctuated a bit during the two week buildup but seems to have returned to the starting point.

Hey, Teach...very nice breakdown. Of course, I'm rooting for the Panthers, cuz I'm pissed off at the Pats for helping the Colts look so bad!

John F'in Kerry will demand equal time.
Did I mention I was in Vietnam?
