NASA also darkened the pictures of OJ to make him look more menacing!

Nasa has used image filters for decades. Nothing new.

Out of curiosity, what purpose does it serve to supress greenery on Mars? The conspiracy people say something like this:
If there is life on Mars.....then how far behind is the question of alien and UFOs being real! Ahhhh... We can't have that! World religions will crumble and chaos with engulf the world. So hide the truth! The people can't handle the truth.

If the rover is in Death Valley, why do they have to use a radio link to repair it? Can't they just drive out there and work on it? Damn inefficient government buracracy!

The purpose of the mission is to gather data, not to produce pretty pictures. The analysis of the Martian surface will be done by computer analysis, not by subjectively looking at images. One of the problems with the "exploration with robots only" model is that people just don't realize how inflexible it is. One manned mission can accomplish more than all the robots you are ever likely to send. Plus a robot often raises more questions than answers, questions that at least require another robot and may not be answered by robots.
A robot can only measure what you decide beforehand is worth measuring, and if you don't get the answers you expect there is often little or no recourse or flexibility for dealing with it.
It is the difference between getting directions and having to glean them with yes/no questions.

Who's Maher trying to kid. Those photos were shot on a soundstage in Burbank. Did you notice that not one single name was mentioned in that article?
HAS been accused of doctoring
HAS been accused of digitally tweaking
NASA told New Scientist that "getting the colours right is a surprisingly difficult and subjective job"
Oh, they mentioned Dr. Jim Bell, whoever that is.

No Hmmmmm needed here. The purpose of the mission is to gather data, not to produce pretty pictures. The analysis of the Martian surface will be done by computer analysis, not by subjectively looking at images. That's not what the European Space Agency thinks. Go to there web site and you'll see 'sexed up' pictures of Mars taken by Mars Expess.

My sympathies about the dentist. You should have watched Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood today, I did with my three year old. And Mr. Rogers taught us that dentists are our friends. (Mr. Rogers mustn't have left the neighborhood, much.) :)
