If there is no conservative voting block, then who wrote the Texas Republican platform?

if it wasn't for the religious right W wouldn't have won.

The religious right stayed at home in 96 and 2 million of them stayed at home in 2000.

It's the same on the right... we don't get everything we want but we get a hell of a lot more with the moderate GOP in office than a leftie. I'll fight with everything I have in me to keep Kerry out of the White House, even if that means fighting against fellow conservatives willing to help put him there.

How, exactly?

If they're leaning against voting for Bush, how do you fight them back to your side?

You really ought to be fighting whatever advisors told President Bush to risk kissing off a lot of votes. They're the ones endangering GOP prospects in November.

Yes, you either said you were voting Tancredo or you suggested that people vote Tancredo. I remember it clearly because I was surprised, I always thought you were a Libertarian/libertarian and would have expected you to promote a write-in for Ron Paul if anyone.

Why do you pretend California just now, with Bush, has a problem with illegals?? Where has your concern been all these years before now? Spare me! I lived in L.A. for three years, 1970-1973. It was over-run with Mexicans back then, big time, as was all of Southern California, and you know it! This problem wasn't new in the early 70's, it was well established then, and that was 30 years ago! Suddenly it's your number one priority to get rid of the Mexicans? Right! And what about your local politicians, and your state government, what have they done about this grave concern of yours? Not much I'll bet.....Your state has let the Mexicans run back and forth over the border for 30-40 years at least. Now Bush is suppose to round them all up, send them all back, and build a wall around our country, guarded by our military, to fix a problem you Californians, have been ignoring or condonig for years! Excuse me if I'm not too sympathetic to your plight, nor is it high on my priority list, or that of most Americans.

There is no conservative al sharpton, there is no conservative special interest group per se. There are groups with conservative priciples. (NRA, Christian Coalition, etc.) not any one labeled conservative.

Zell Miller would beat any anti-gun rhino.

This may shock you, Saber, but quite often people vote a certain direction because they are just plain old mis-informed about either the candidates platform or they are naive about how political power can translate into policy changes that someone wants.

For example, I voted Perot in 1992. If ONE PERSON had sat me down for a moment and showed me the numbers involved in actually putting a third party candidate in the White House, I NEVER would have voted Perot. I liked Bush Sr. infinitely more than I liked Clinton... and those were actually my two choices no matter how stupid I was to realize it.

I don't recall Joe saying he'd vote for Tancredo, though I could have missed it.

I know he voted for Schwarzenegger though. Does that help?

I'm an American, that wants our leaders to put America and our people first, all the time, everytime! A leader that will secure our borders and our sovereignty.

I am not a party boy, I don't follow in lockstep cadence behind any political party out of DC. To be quite honest, I have nothing but contempt for most everyone in DC regardless of party.

We ought to relocate the Capital in the middle of Kansas, put out some double wides, fire the millions of government employees, and tell them to get to governing and protecting our borders. Make the capital centralized so the few politicians left will have less miles to travel to their home states. Save even more tax money.

Does this clear things up a little for you?

If the religious right stayed home in 96, how did Tom Delay, Ron Paul, Helen Chenoweth,Steve Largent,John Ascroft etc, etc get elected?

Not all of us stayed home, I was working my B off.

In 2000 we came close to losing. Wouldn't it be good to get back some of those who stayed home?

The GOP has moved on. Bush has the Center right and most of the moderate middle. He is sitting on a 53% governing majority and a 320+ electoral advantage. He does not need to pander to a "base" that prides itself in taking its ball and staying at home. The "base" has made its bed and now may as well sleep in it.

He did promote voting Tancredo.

See, I don't have a problem with people criticizing Bush. I don't agree with all of this policies or decisions either. My ONLY problem is when conservatives here advocate voting for someone other than Bush. That I remember because to me it is the same as if a Democrat or Green came here advocating a vote for Kerry.
