My daughter is a great lover of all animals and wrote this article to bring this issue to the attention of all concerned persons.

Unless you are a vegetarian, you can't condemn the horse industry any more than the cattle industry or poultry industry.

Hmmm...so your daughter loves horses...fine...

Who the hell is going to pay for all of these horses to lounge away their retirement in some pasture...NOT ME.

I like horses.
I also liked the Jack in the Box burgers,in the 1970's, that had horsemeat in them.
Wish they still had them.

My wife and I are mixed marriage. She is a horse person, I am not. That not withstanding I would not like to see her old mare sent to the knackers. We keep the dear old nag at a cost of around $200 a month, excluding ferrier and vet bills. Horse people do not adhere to common notions of logic regarding these animals. Putting it down is not a subject I dare broach. Still, I would never let the animal get butchered up like a pig in a meat shop.

My girlfriend just told me that Ferdinand (Kentucky Derby winner in 1986), met his demise in a jap slaughterhouse last year. He made millions for his owners, but the bastards couldn't "afford" to put him out to pasture.
