Damn how much would that be in today's money? Considering the cheapness of labor and materials I suspect some corruption in the awarding of the contract.

What did William McKinnley know and when did he know it?

Taking note of this dismal effort, the New York Times editorialized that it would take one million to 10 million years for man to develop an airplane.

Curtiss was a great innovator. Among other things, he replaced the Wrights' primitive wing-warping with true ailerons.

Read about the Ezekial Airship.  The Wrights didn't know they had competition from a Baptist preacher in East Texas, of all places!  Each link below has a different story and pictures about this obscure aircraft.
