I hated Wuthering Heights. To me, Heathcliff was nothing more than a stalker. (Note to Heathcliff; She married someone else - get over it!) Now, I really loved Jane Eyre! I guess we all have our own favorites. I am a HUGE Lord of the Rings fan. I'm quite looking forward to Return of the King!

Re #45: Yes, the first movie was dark, but it had to be to contrast the innocence and happy life of the hobbits with the evil that was building. The next movie is different, though the Helms deep scenes were shot at night. Give the second movie a chance. Maybe you will find you like it better.

While I haven't seen
Return of the King, I would not be embarrassed to lose to
Master And Commander - certainly the best movie I have seen this year, at least if
The Pianist does not count.
Also terribly un-PC. That kind of thing needs to be encouraged.

Tolkien usedta be a guiding force for the 60's LeftistsOnly because they completely misunderstood the message of the books. How a bunch of pantywaist hippies could enjoy the most powerful glorification of sacrifice and duty in the English language is quite beyond me.
Maybe they were just too stoned to understand the story?

I wouldn't know. I am apparently the only person who made it thru the 60s and 70s without participating in the consumption of controlled substances.
