"What would Marshall di Manhattan know about outhouses?" Obviously, not a damn thing.
This is so ridiculous.

"What would Marshall di Manhattan know about outhouses?"Oh......of course; that's easy.
He teaches in one.

Let me get this straight. I'm over here with the military trying to help the Iraqi's, the majority of which are Muslim (and who BTW the majority of WANT us to be here)obtain freedom that they've never had before and meanwhile Ibrahim Hooper and the so-called Islamic "leaders" in the U.S. are finding their version of skulls and cross bones in ice cubes? Good grief! These people need to concentrate more on cleaning up their own house before they start chasing shadows in someone elses backyard.

Actually, many outhouse doors have or did have a strong spring on the door and the doors indeed did slam. The reason, of course, was those in the house wanted to make sure the door remained tightly closed when nobody was using the facility. Outhouse doors, after all, did not typically have a lockset handle to catch and remain shut.
The locking mechanism was usually a hook and eye on the inside so the occupant could retain privacy.

All that matters, he said, is the way people interpret it. Therefore, even if Hart intended no offense, the offense is there. Meaning that if a booger eating moron takes insult at something that you say or do due to his or her own stupidity YOU are reposonsible for that insult? Yeah, right, like those idiots who got the Washington, DC politician fired for using the word "nigardly!" Hell, it should have been the entire school board that was fired for the stupidity and ignorance of the "graduates" of the school system!
As WorldNetDaily reported, CAIR and another Muslim group demanded an apology last year from Pulitzer-prize winning political cartoonist Doug Marlette for his depiction of a Middle Eastern-looking man behind the steering wheel of a nuclear-bomb laden truck under the headline, "What would Muhammad drive?"
Gee... Where could he have gotten the idea for a political cartoon depicting a "Middle Eastern-looking man" driving a car bomb? Where did that crap start? Hmmm??? Sure, McVeigh did it, but did he have help from certain ME terrorist groups? More importantly, where did he get the idea? It's not like we haven't been hearing about car bombs since before the Lebanese civil war!
Marlette told WorldNetDaily he would not apologize, though he had received thousands of e-mails from angry Muslims, with some threats of death and mutilation.
"If you don't apologize to us, and publicly admit how nice and peaceful we are, we're going to find you, and chop you into little pieces, before killing you!!!!" Yeah, that would certainly get me to wax on and on about how peaceful you people are...

Another classic example of illustrating absurdity by being absurd.

Ok first the Chicago Trib refused to run a couple of Mort Walker "Beetle Bailey" strips last year because the P.C. cops at The Trib thought they were sexist. Now Johnny Hart is under fire becasue of someoene's personal "perception" of what he ment in a cartoon. What's next? A boycott of the "Wizard of ID" becasue it offends midget despots? Yeah I can imagine Kim Jong Il reviewing his legal options right now! Papers refusing to run Hagar The Horrible becasue of it's overly violent content and misoginistic treatment of women? Someone needs to explain to these people who obviously have NOTHING better to do that IT'S A COMIC STRIP!! Get over it! LOL! If they want to get huffy about a cartoon that truly offends people and insults people on a regular basis, boycott Dunesbury. Oh wait I forgot, they actually think that one's funny! Never mind.

If so, I commend Mr. Hart for it - though I might have had BC reaching for koran pages to finish the "paperwork" part of his outhouse visit. What you said is humorous to me but if I were to analyse your statement to death it would lose it's humor. Cartoon strips are meant to be looked at, chuckle then go on your way. If someone is looking for something sinister they will find it.

Thanks. Funny thread too!
All I can say is, if Hart DIDN'T do this on purpose, I want to get to know his subconscious.

Marshall Blonsky, professor of semiotics at the New School in New York, said for one thing, people don't slam outhouse doors
=====================
I grew up with an out house complete with crecent cut in the door. It had a system to automaticly drop the lid when the door was opened -- SLAM-- and a spring to pull the door shut --- SLAM. The fraud of a prof knows not of what he speaks.
To: ovrtaxt
is it me, or do some people have so much time on their hands that they get paranoid????? (hmmm, is that cause or effect?)
To: hellinahandcart; Lion Den Dan
Well, I've never been in a real outhouse, but I've used a portajon plenty of times on construction sites. Now there's where you can find some real cartooning talent! Also, it's a great source for taglines!
Oh, and the doors slam, they have a spring.
Obviously, this NewYork jackass professor has never worked a day in his life. Typical ignorance of the 'intellectual elite'.

I don't think it's papranoia, I think they had better be concerned. Americans are quickly getting sick of Islam.

At least your outhouse had a door! Why we were so poor that... .
To: ovrtaxt
Johnny Hart is great! I'm a big fan of his, and once again, he's hit the nail on the head about the Islamofacists (if that was his intention), if not, then it's just another funny cartoon.

If so, I commend Mr. Hart for it - though I might have had BC reaching for koran pages to finish the "paperwork" part of his outhouse visit. Every once in a while, I get ready to post something, and on the way I find one like this that leaves me nothing to say....
Thanks!
