I propose that we refer to Europeans, left wing ones, at least, as "Overseas Democrats", or in Freeper terms, "Overseas DemoRATS".

I read How Democracies Perish when it was new, and was very impressed by this gentleman's grasp of the issues at hand, that played out in the succeeding couple of years in a way that neither he nor Hayek nor Hook nor any of the other luminaries addressing them could have hoped. We won that one and the French academy disdained to notice.

The latter tend to be a brittle bunch, if my acquaintance with a small handful of its members is any decent sample, ao addicted to a specific theoretical approach to how societies operate that contraindicative evidence is trivialized, twisted, or simply dismissed. They who deride arrogance and inflexibility in us uncultured rubes are, in fact, the most arrogant and inflexible of minds. Well, the ones I met were young and hopefully will learn better, if they believe their eyes and not their prejudices. At least I hope so. Someone who can never be wrong is exceedingly unlikely, in my experience, to ever be right.

"What we end up with in what is conventionally called Western society is a topsy-turvy situation in which those seeking to destroy democracy appear to be fighting for legitimate aims, while its defenders are pictured as repressive reactionaries."

So it goes. Just watch the evening news on any of the alpahbet networks and you too can see the topsy-turvy rationale of the Left.

Great post, thanks!

Thank you for posting. He mentions two demonic regimes within 30 years-Hitler and Stalin? Hitler and the Kaiser? Looks like there are a few to pick from.

Also, Europeans are wasting their time hating America while, once again, they should be looking at the troubles in their own yards. The influx and coming influence of Muslims on their perfect little world is something that cannot be forestalled much longer. Some parts of France are 30% Muslim and no doubt about it, there is a major movement to make the UK an Islamic state. The sequel to this book should be "While Europe Slept".

It is very much worth it to read Revel's Anti-Americanism. He's no 'deconstructionist.' He writes like Thomas Sowell -- very simply and clearly but with devastating force. Only very, very intelligent, skillful writers write this way.

I have read that when Revel's book Without Marx or Jesus came out, the intellectual elites in France and the U.S. didn't like it, gave it bad marks. But what is interesting, especially for France, is that it became very popular in both countries. It may be that the common people of France would like to hear more of reality and less of the socialists' fantasies.

European and other Transnational Progressives hate us because We're the biggest roadblock in the way to establishment of the international transnational system they want to establish. We're the only ones who have been standing up and saying "No", and unfortunately we're strong enough and influential enough so that our "No" carries what they think of as undue, disproportionate and undeserving weight. They refer to us as a "rogue nation" and "the world's greatest terrorist" and "the biggest threat to the world" because from their point of view we actually are.

The Democratic wing of the Democratic Party is the Transnational Progressive wing of the Democratic Party.

I heard about this book on The Laura Ingraham show, which I am sure some of you know is a farther than hell right wing show. A show that I listen to for reasons that this book helped pacify.
Recently in college I have been struck dumb and dead by the pseuso-intellectualism of my peers and the self rightous indignation with which they view this country. I have had problems with American policies in the past but I, and any sane person, still have to recognize that it is the greatest country that has ever existed. When you look at the across the board advancements in everything from political structure to technology this statement comes off not as jingoistic (sp?) but rather as an assertion of the purest logic. We are lucky sons of bitches to be born in this country at this time and the people who don't feel the slightest bit of gratitude make me sick. People like my fellow students.
My loathing of their socialist pie in the sky ideals have driven me to seek out and embrace anyone who loves America. Whether it's radio talk show hosts, conservative authors, or even (gulp) Fox News, because I am literally brought to heart palpatating anxiety when I see ridiculous anti-American protests and anti-American articles in newspapers that have the ability to spark my admiration for their passion and my nausea for their stupidity all at the same time.
Thus (finally) I read this book and loved every word. Revel writes with a moral clarity and temperment that I have not felt from the printed word since I read Rand for the first time (why are America's best supporters foreign born?). And now I find myself completly at ease with the left lap dogs of satan, because I understand what is at the heart of their hatred. It isn't reason that drives them, it's jealousy. Not for our wealth but for the fact that our ideals work. The fact that America works, and their quick fix schemes never will. They hate reality because it keeps their utopias locked tight in their heads, and they hate America because it works with reality.

I started reading this article; and then I found that I really don’t care why they hate us. What’s more, I don’t really feel like putting in the effort to find out, so I didn’t bother to finish it. What would be the point? Everything we do, every move we make seems to anger someone. The Europeans are acting like a bunch of petulant, spoiled, demanding children. Nothing would please them except our total collapse.

All I know is that I love my country; and I am tired of the criticism. I am tired of us having to be all things to all people. I am tired of America having to be the babysitter, the referee, the peacemaker, and the provider. We are best example of what a nation should be; and deserve a little respect and appreciation for our efforts.

I'm British,I grew up in the UK and have always had a natural disliking for the country i was born and raised in .I hate London,i prefer the old capital of Winchester. My Favorite royal was Queen Victoria as she was half German, and married German.I really wish we'd have a revolution and get rid of our monarchy .

I have vacationed in America and felt as though it was my version of home,The people are so friendly. They do not spend all their time watching sports, when they get married they take it seriously and they are so polite compared to some Brits i know.

Although Americas health care is pricey if it wasn't for them i would probably be seriously ill still.Yes NHS does have its faults but I've had to wait 4 hours in a waiting room just for a twisted ankle.

So in conclusion not all European/British people hate the US just the rich snobby ones do :)

P.S I'm not anti Jewish,In fact my grandfather was raised by them even though he wasn't Jewish .
