Yes, there is a vast difference between saying "I wouldn't want to live like that" and "Please kill me if I ever become disabled."
In between there is room for a wide range of personal choice - and without a living will, I don't think a guardian is qualified to use a casual statement as proof of an expressed "wish" to be used to terminate life when other family members disagee.

You have been doing a great job. My hat's off to you!
O'Reilly was SO FRUSTRATED at the end that he DID NOT HEAR Kate's important point... Bill doesn't realize Terri is BEING DENIED ANY THERAPY or REHAB, and Michael and Felos are falsifying her x-rays, records, and occasional tests.
O'Reilly seemed rather hung up on the word 'cognizant'. That's understandable. Try as he might O'Reilly just can't seem to muster up cognizance of the world around him. He seems to be trying to find a guest that, if properly bullied, will somehow bring him back into contact with the rest of the world.
He's fun to watch. I fully expect him to blow a vein in his temple on air someday.

Good points.
If Terri had truly wanted to die, she would have made a living will. Michael's claim (when it is to his benefit) to suddenly recall it eight years later totally lacks credibility. Also, it is the type of topic not usually of concern to those in their twenties.
I hate to think that we can be killed merely on the word of someone who has been proven to be a liar, adultere, and a vicious person filled with hate and has a conflict of interest.

Doctors don't listen. People are ravaged by diseases and doctors will tell them for years that it is all in their mind until the patient ends up dead.Do tell! /sarcasm
Last winter, after a three month wait for an appointment, I saw a doctor to discuss several long standing complaints. The major one was 18 years of back and neck pain. As soon as I brought it up he launched into a twenty minute spiel which amounted to trying to convince me that I must be depressed and that he had the drugs to help. That pretty much eliminated discussion of anything else since he was only giving me 30 minutes for my 3 month wait.
Oh, and he opened by telling me "the best thing I can do for your health is get you to quit smoking. I have some drugs for that." It took five minutes for him to get over the brain fart he had when I told him I had no desire to quit smoking.
I don't hate doctors, my father was a very good and much loved physician. He was a loved and loving father too. He didn't listen either. Like therut, he assumed that anyone who didn't possess the body of knowledge and training that he did was incapable of critical thought or the means to discern right from wrong when it came to health matters.

I don't recognize the lady, but if she goes around wearing pounds of heavy metal on her bosom, she's going to develop some serious droop.

Smoking to excess is corrosive to the body.

Is that his duty? He didn't do squat for the six things I did go to him for. He didn't even hear about three of them because he wasted my time trying to talk me into being depressed instead of looking into my back and neck pain. I guess he did his duty but he didn't do his job. He's a pill pushing quack and I'll never go to him again.
