"Debbie and Doug, your home is safe, as is all the homes on our street. I turned off your main breaker and noticed you already shut off the gas. I turned off our neighbors electrical as well."
I would be ticked if he had done that to me. My guess is that his neighbors left the power on to preserve food. If the fire hits the house it is not going to make much difference if the power is on or off.

winds have picked up in Santa Clarita area
Again:
I-5 shut down between Hwy 14 and Hwy 126.
Spot fires between that area and FF's are working hard to keep from spreading.

that last I heard they were going to backfire down Bear Creek and then extinguish it (south of BB dam)...there is also a fire break being created with dozers.
Fawnskin has several strike teams of Orange County Firefighters for structure protection....

Probably. My friend in Vegas said they had smoke there and no fires. The air in the Los Angeles Basin a little bit better yesterday.

Hey, Ringie! *waving* I know this isn't a Scott Peterson thread, but I too will be glad when "they do something" with him. And, back on topic, I'll be glad when the weather changes to cooler temps and higher humidities so the firefighters can gain on these fires. They are just monstrous.

San Diego Fire Death
1:15 p.m.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Bomb Arson Unit reports another fire-related death. A body was recovered in a home at 9848 Vista Viejas Rd. in Alpine this morning.
Investigators are unable to determine whether the victim is male or female, but they believe it could be the body of a missing 41 year old woman who resided at that address. This brings the number of fire-related deaths to 13.
Information from the fire command center briefing
12:45 p.m.
From the California Dept. of Forestry: The Cedar fire is heading north along the 79 in the St. Ysabel area moving towards the Volcan Mountain range. The activity is concentrated in the northeast, east and southeast borders.
The National Weather Service is reporting 25 mile per hours winds with gusts up to 40 miles per hour. Evacuations are in effect for Wynola, Schoolhouse Canyon , St. Ysabel and Volcan Mountain areas.
Officials ask that residents please heed evacuation orders. There are currently 33, 000 firefighters on the lines and an additional 10,000 assisting in the fire fighting efforts. There are 12 air tankers fighting the fire.
Supervisor Diane Jacob represents most of the fire area including Crest, Alpine, Julian and Cuyamaca. Community disaster centers are being set up in the affected areas and she asks to hear from residents about what they need. Her office is at 1600 Pacific Highway and the phone number is (619) 531-5522.
State Senator Dennis Hollingsworth says his office is compiling packets of information from state offices, FEMA and the federal government and will make them available at evacuation centers and assistance centers. Residents may contact his offices in El Cajon and Temecula. El Cajon: 1870 Cordell Court, Ste. 107 , Phone: (619) 596-3136. Temecula: 27555 Ynez Road, Ste. 204 Phone: (909) 676-1020.
The Paradise fire is burning just north of the Cedar fire east of Valley Center. The primary areas of concern are the northeast and eastern flanks that are moving towards Palomar and Lake Henshaw areas. Evacuations are still in effect in the area primarily due to the limited access in and out. All areas that are open are limited to residents only. 111 structures have been destroyed.

Girlfriend. WHew, so glad to hear your voice. :) Hope all is well with you. I have friends in Lake Arrowhead area, haven't been able to reach them all week. They are probably long gone. Wings Aunt is hanging out over on Court TV, but don't think she is following the Scott case. Think it was the other peterson.
