To: cookcounty
Yeah, but it seems like we've gotten a long way ..away from what it means to effect 'immediate action'.

Very strong e-mail. It made me pause for a minute and think about this whole situation.

Reason 247 and 62 are getting jammed up is that they were expecting 30,000 to evacuate via those routes. It's bad enough when 1-3000 commute that route at 'rush hour', but traffic flows fine.

KNBC's Paul Moyer:
Funny that his is the first name I should see when I plugged back into this thread.....he's without doubt the most boneheaded (flat out dolt) "anchor" in L.A. television.
He just finished axing an on-ground reporter if the helicopters that could be heard were still dropping water; the reporter gently told him that "no...they're our TV choppers"
This isn't quite as good as the way this idiot handled himself during the OJ White Bronco chase, but it puts him back in the neighborhood.

Julian and Alpine are nice places, on my frequent drives to SD from PHX, I drive through those mountains at about 4000 ft. I prefer taking the prop plane flight into Carlsbad though, its a beautiful ride over (just over!) Palomar and the canyons leading into that tiny airport.

I think part of the confusion may be that Big Bear Lake and Big Bear City are not the same town (but adjacent). I noticed this when I stayed there on layover from hiking.
To: viaveritasvita
Yeah, they are still on strike, but I think people aren't paying attention right now.
The grocery companies are getting desperate I think actually though.
Got a coupon in the mail from Ralphs today. $10 off any order of $50, free eggs with $10 purchase. Albertsons is offering $10 off prescriptions.
Other than that, there has not been one bit I know about the strike, other than seeing the strikers on my way home.

Chuck Henry's wheels.......
To: viaveritasvita
Bwahahahahahaha....oh yes, the strikers...seems almost irrelevant now...yes..they are still on strike.

Great! That's exactly what I hope will happen with my friends/family! That and the hope that they'll forward it to THEIR friends/family. If nothing else, I hope more and more people will be praying. The scope is really more than we can calculate at the moment.

Yeah - they're out picketing with masks on. Heck, there was one supermarket near the fire out here where there were two picketers yelling at people to go to Stater Brothers... when the people had been evacuated and were trying to get some water or food.

Yeah, KNBC reporter Chuck Henry was being stupid and not leaving when he should have, his van went toast, and a firefighter had to rescue him and his camera man without their news van.
