Help me with this: I know God promised (the sign being the rainbow) never to destroy the earth by flood again, but is there something in the Bible that specifically says destruction by fire?

Fires Near Lake Arrowhead, Big Bear Resorts and Stevenson Ranch
By Marisa Lagos, Zeke Minaya and Daryl Strickland, Times Staff Writers
Over 1,000 firefighters battling the Simi Valley blaze were successful in keeping the fire from entering the San Fernando Valley today, but could not keep flames from crossing into Los Angeles County by nightfall.
By 5 p.m., the fire was threatening the upscale Stevenson Ranch area from the southwest, and firefighters were frantically setting backfires and bombing the blaze with water-dropping helicopters to slow its advance, Los Angeles County fire spokesman Nathan Gonzales said.
And despite the higher humidity and drop in Santa Ana winds, wildfires also continued to march toward the resort mountain communities of Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead today, forcing massive evacuations.
In San Diego, dual blazes threatened to merge into one huge inferno and forced homeowners in mountain communities to flee. The small town of Cuyamaca, south of Julian, was 90% destroyed today, and fire officials said the affected areas could total as much as 250,000 acres for the Cedar fire alone.
Officials said they may have partial containment of that fire by next Monday.

Brokaw-Rather-Jennings: Get OUT of our state!!!! People are dying, losing everything!!! You miserable, sick vultures!!People have been complaining on these threads for days and days about a lack of coverage of the fires, and the moment it starts getting the coverage...

Took approximately nine years to get Malibu rebuilt after the big fire there. Of course, those were multi-million dollar homes.
I have heard that the houses in Scripps region started at $one million price.

That is a Seattle land mark, been there quite a few years, remember going there in the late 60s.
I am thinking the number of fires, some one is setting them, Lord, what a bunch of sick people.

I am well aware of the senario and you are correct to such an extent nobody is able to comprehend the potential disatrous circumstances. The power of all these cataclysmic conditions is awesome and a gross understatement. I just hope it all holds together for a while longer. This country is dealing with a lot to say grace over these days and your knees seems to be a good place to frequent in these uncertain times; lot of things to discuss!

just had a major drop in power. Mr. C4E suggested a change in power grid..if so they didn't do it very gracefully...heh heh...I initiated something like that once - the phone was ringing off the hook within 1 minute from fellow employees wondering what kind of tricks I was performing with the grid. I quickly undid what I had done! :)

Just heard over the Simi scanner link that there are power lines down. FFers are to consider all powerlines live. Not certian what streets they were talking about.

You might add that one official was saying that it may take a "season ending event" (read lots of moisture) to stop these fires.
Three weeks of fire is not out of the question - according to the fire official interviewed on national cable news.
Paradise and Cedar fire are only a few miles apart from merging now. It would cut off all escape routes to the north. This is really really bad.

Officials said they may have partial containment of that fire by next Monday. It'll take a WEEK for PARTIAL containment? Holy crap...

The enviros have passed enough rules that you cannot cut down any trees on your property unless you hire a certified arborist, which can cost a minimum of $5000, Back in Connecticut, a tree fell across my driveway (long dirt driveway), and I called a company to cut it up. They charged $500 for maybe 30 minutes of work, and then TOOK THE WOOD instead of leaving it for me to chop for my fireplace.
I was incensed. God knows how much it would cost if I wanted to fell some of the iffy-looking trees along the driveway. I bought a chainsaw after that, but sold the house before I got around to using it.

Geraldo beat Dan by a few hours. The male war whore was up at Big Bear already..
