Didn't Grover disapprove of a few bumper stickers on sale at CPAC two years ago? I forget Gene's screen name...

Did Grover also propose lowering their marginal tax rates? That's his only claim to fame...and advent tax cutter and supply-sider.
Too bad he's blinded by this issue.

Since 9/11, Norquist has led opposition to domestic anti-terrorism laws and has been quoted in frontpage NY times articles allelging a wholesale loss of faith by conservatives in Attorney General Josh Ashcroft. Norquist has also attacked Daniel Pipes, Steve Emerson, and others who have attempted to alert Americans to the dangers of Islam. All this makes me wonder if he's merely a self-impressed gasbag, or something a bit more insidious.

Norquist has impeccable credentials in the conservative movement and the trust of the President and his closest advisers. He's also been active against the "Patriot Act" (he once said he'd automatically vote against any law someone felt they had to name "Patriot") and in favor of recognizing American Muslims as a potential powerful ally of the GOP and conservatism as a whole.
Paul Tetreault, who runs the "Citizen Soldier" website, is a more ambiguous case, to say the least. His main page positively drips with anti-Islamic hatred. Yet if one trots over to the "ANSWER" website (unworthy of linking here), he shows up on the list of "PARTIAL ENDORSERS: EMERGENCY MOBILIZATION TO STOP THE WAR". Odd may be an understatement.

Then why does he associate with the fringe elements -- the ones who advocate terrorism and jihad?

What is wrong with the goals of the "Islamic Institute", as stated above?
1. Cultivate and expand Muslim activists and mobilize the community at the state and federal levels on issues affecting the American Muslim community. 2. Provide a platform to promote an Islamic perspective on domestic issues (social and fiscal) to help enhance the Muslim community's input in the decision-making process.
3. Run aggressive campaigns at the state and federal levels on issues affecting the American Muslim community.
All of those are direct reflections of their rights as US citizens.
Also note Tetreault's expression, "believed to be funded by....". Considering Tetreault's endorsement of an "ANSWER" program, methinks he's not the most reliable of sources, especially when attempting "guilt by association".

Nice try, but I'm talking about his ties to the likes of Abdurahman Alamoudi and Sami al-Arian.

No, because it isn't going to happen. Change "Islamic" and "Muslim" to "Christian" or "Jewish" and its basically the same cause. Not one I personally would support in either case, but not terroristic.

When have any so-called mainstream Christian or Jewish leaders seriously talked about wishing to impose religious law on this country?
When was the last time followers of either religion brutally and savagely attacked this nation in the name of their religion?
Just because it likely won't happen doesn't mean that certain people who would very much like to do so aren't gaining access to the highest levels of power in this country, thanks to certain self-aggrandizing creeps, such as the subject of this thread.
