With all due respect (and I do respect your many great posts) I think Poohbah may be telling us the truth. Cold and hard but truth nonetheless. He is a realist. He is a legalist too which is irritating to those of us who recognize that at some point spirit can and will trump the law. (The rule of law is great, Poohbah, until the law becomes so twisted that it serves no good.) Truthfully, I don't see where he has insulted you so terribly. Your posts don't sound like you tonight.

It took place when the radical Right to Lifer's gave up rational thought and ASSumed that they had all the answers in every circumstance. Just "invent" new rights and responsibilities for the Governor and say its self evident that they are legitimate, after all if they are not, then someone will die.

I'm upset because Schiavo apparently didn't have a Living Will or other instructions about what to do in a case like this. To me, being chained to a hospital bed at the edge of life having to be fed through a tube for 13 years would be hell, and is a fate I would not wish upon my worst enemy. That's the real tragedy - everybody should have detailed instructions on file somewhere about what they want done in a case like this.

Right. Every 26 yr old ought to have their wills made out. Maybe we could have that done through a school program and get everyone signed up in kindergarten when they get their shots their SS card and their national ID.

In most cases they won't matter all that much....but do you wish this were true so people could be dehydrated more quickly, instead of having to wait all the years of court battles?
