The typical caucus participant is the least likely person to vote for Trump. His totals will be considerably less than currently are reflected in the polls. My guess is that Cruz will win in Iowa.

I wonder who is telling Terry Branstad what to say lately? Maybe someone like Doug Gross is playing Edgar Bergen to Branstad's Charlie McCarthy. Branstad appears to have some health issues at this point, as he is sort of phoning everything in these days and in some ways seems really out of it. The Iowa GOP convinced him to get back in the big chair, but I don't think it has been good for the man personally. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that Kim Reynolds is doing much of the heavy lifting behind the scenes.

As for courageous leadership that might tell the Iowa Republican cabal to stop backing hacks and stealing the silverware long enough to help slow the slide into hell, that has been a commodity lacking in Iowa's GOP governors since Bob Ray made a virtue out of moderation. The death of the small farmer and the small town was classic "frog-boiling" with a complicit post-Hughes Terrace Hill

Trump could do so much for this country if wins....but with him shooting his big mouth off he just might hand this to Hillary

Good insight.

Kim Reynolds does indeed wield a lot of unnoticed power. Joni Ernst was her pick, and the plan was for Joni to eventually become lieutenant governor and then governor. Ernst surprised them by getting elected to the Senate when the plan was that it would just be her introduction to a statewide audience.
