But haven’t you heard...Cruz is evil!

What we heard is arguably the most strict constitutionalist running has voted for a trade bill that will essentially void the treaty power of the Senate. The Senate will likely go Dem in the next election and Mitch and his supporters will be the reason. Congressional support is now at an all time low, so getting things done as Mitch likes to say doesn’t seem to be a winning strategy if he is getting the wrong things done.

You’ll find a good description of the Confederate New Mexico “campaign” in Shelby Foote’s trilogy. Pretty much a total disaster, they weren’t prepared for the terrain or weather IIRC, and the Union defenders let the land and heat do a lot of the fighting for them.

Ok, so who will you vote for then? How do you know what the bill says if it hasn’t been released?

Exactly, and likely never will be, but enough statements have been made to make me think that the president can make changes to any trade pact and it would require a two thirds vote to overturn any changes he makes. That should frighten anyone.

Nope, there are actually other parts of the bill that require Congress to approve trades. I can post what I am hearing later,

If the GOP knows for certain that southerners will vote for the Republican candidate no matter what, then there is no need to field a candidate from the south.

Republicans know absolutely that no self-respecting conservative southerner will vote for any of the Democrat candidates. Their only worry is that if the candidate that rises to the top is too RINO then southerners might stay home.
