Patrick Brennan is an associate editor at National Review. As a William F. Buckley Fellow at the National Review Institute from 2011 to 2013, he covered a special election in New York’s ninth congressional district, sparred with Senator Rand Paul over who should run the Federal Reserve, and became very familiar with Mitt Romney’s tax returns. In addition to editing for the magazine and NRO, he writes on economic and fiscal policy, along with a sprinkling of foreign affairs. He also works as a part-time assistant for Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan.

In 2011, he received a degree in Classics with high honors from Harvard College, where he was managing editor of The Harvard Salient, competed on the sailing team, and served as chancellor of the Knights of Columbus council. In 2013, he was a Publius Fellow at the Claremont Institute. His work has been cited by, among others, Forbes, The Economist, The Week, and Real Clear Politics. He has appeared on Canada’s Sun News Network, Al Jazeera America, Mike Huckabee’s radio show, and other radio programs.

Does that explain his angle?

Ping to Sarah's Awesome List!

Our Soldiers have Baptism by Fire.

I do not shed a tear for Achmeds Baptism by Water.

Its sad that the majority of the insults that Sarah gets is from her own party..I can understand libtards hating her, but coming from so-called Republicans is even more disturbing. I take it from this guy that he has NO problem with Obama using DRONES to KILL terrorists, without a trial, but he considers water boarding to be “Barbaric” gee, what is worse, getting your ass blown up or being dumped in water and living

Palin was great. She talks like Americans USED TO TALK. Wry humor, straight-arrow, and unfettered by a suffocating, fascist-PC culture. Just like almost everyone I used to know from earlier generations, from neighbors to family members. She’s almost a lone echo from the past, and America’s former greatness.

Back before the whole damned country became a bunch of cowering pajama-boys, crippled by a perverse PC culture and permeated with weakness, and pathetic, self-absorbed, holier-than-thou gamesmanships about moral virtue.

It’s obviously a hit piece by a GOP establishment yessir type holding a tear wiping hanky for Boehners cheeks.

All these slam-Palin articles all in the same short period of time. The Left and the GOPe sense that something is brewing. So do I.

That means her speeches have gone from being standard political pablum to something even more substanceless —

Patrick, Palin is still allowing the likes of you to draw a paycheck writing substanceless drivel.

Torture — waterboarding being something reasonable people may consider to constitute it — is and should be a question of grave moral consequence for Christians, and is for any Catholic familiar with the Catechism.

Palin's got nothing on Torquemada.

Americans have been rich and spoil too long that they are willing to abandon common sense in business and war. Only place they have common sense is in pro sports. Let me count the ways. Liberals feel affirmative action is necessary even if they do not select the best and brightest. Yet they will go ape if their black dominated home pro football team had to shed 60 percent of the team and replace it with smaller and less strong Asian/Hispanic/White players and lose every game afterwards. Conservatives feel free trade is necessary, but they would freak out if the coach of their pro football team open seminars for opposing coaches that will unveil their secret techniques for winning. Libertarians would advocate constitutional rights during war for enemy combatants, but would be the first screaming on top of their lungs “kill them” to exort their home team to victory. Americans know what is needed to win the Super Bowl, but when it comes to business advantage and winning wars, they put away their common sense.

Isn't barbarism a name coined for how crude and ruthless the Arabs of the Barbary Coast were? I wonder if the irony was lost on Patrick Brennan? His choice of word to call Sarah Palin is off the mark.

The wheat is rapidly being separated from the chaff.

The Republicans' long knives are out for America's Iron Lady. She has called out the GOP-e for the collabarators that they are, and they are in full panic mode. They've read the TEA leaves, knowing full well how she eviscerated the corrupt Republican establishment in her home state of Alaska, aware that she threatens to do the very same to the national GOP's "Corrupt Bastards Club."

The problem: the GOP has brought those "long knives" to a gunfight. Sarah is packin' heat, and she's a damned good shot.

There’s a word for that kind of practice: barbaric.

Well, no. Not compared to the slow beheading performed with a dull knife; or flying planes into skyscrapers filled with innocent men, women, and children; or sending suicide bombers into shopping areas filled with civilian non-combatants; or any of a long, long list of muslim atrocities.

When Americans no longer tolerate terrorists or terrorist sympathizers, such as this leftist author, then we will be making progress.

It would be barbaric if she meant it literally. I say this as somebody who just got baptized, confirmed and took First Communion in the Catholic Church Easter weekend and took those steps very seriously: No. I wouldn’t have said it. I wouldn’t have advised her to say it. But no. Ronald Reagan didn’t really outlaw the Soviet Union and start bombing it, and a Palin administration wouldn’t really waterboard terrorists in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Ron the Great was trolling the Reds, and Sarah, I think, was speaking out of deep frustration, as a human being, as a citizen, and as the mother of a soldier, at the current administration’s lack of seriousness about defending against the jihad. You know what? I’m frustrated, too. Because on that larger point, she’s right. You think she could have expressed that without going there? I agree. You want to get her to start expressing it without going there? Start having the discussion with her as one mature human being to another for a change.
