that issues of sexual identity--which encompass a spectrum of possibilities for any gay man--must be addressed in an atmosphere of honest encounter that allows not only for exploration of conflict and dissociation but also for restitutive confirmation of the patient's right to be himself. From Jack Drescher, M.D., Psychanalytic Therapy and the Gay Man, it's the same for the pedophiles, bestials and incestuals.

I wanted to send you a link to the APA's fairly recent survey results, from their poll of the membership concerning their opinions of the etiology of homosexuality, but unfortunately that page has been taken down.
I also confess I have trouble keeping the two APA's separate in my mind, so I can't even tell you now which organization it was that did the survey.
You might find this link interesting, however:
http://www.psych.org/pnews/99-01-15/bias.html
This page was put up by the American Psychoanalytic Association.
Notice the pro-gay political activity of the New York City Comptroller, who spoke at the event, whose office one would ordinarily think doesn't have anything to do with homosexuality.

In further reply to your kind supply of links, I thought you might like to see what the American Psychological Association (the other APA -- we're going to have to start numbering them) has been up to in their very active parasitic LGBT org-within-an-org:
http://www.apa.org/pi/lgbc/homepage.html
You can see immediately that they are politically active on the down-and-dirty level, engaging the entire credibility of their host organization on behalf of the gay-rights campaign in communicating with our Congressmen.
They are also very active, you can see by following the links, in attacking schools with the gay propaganda message.

You both probably had the American Psychiatric Ass'n.'s historical page, in which Dr. Spitzer (cited in the quote to Bieber above) is identified (in a scrubbed account favorable to him) as the big pusher behind the overthrow of DSM-2 and the last clinical definition of homosexuality in 1972/3; it's here:
http://www.psych.org/pnews/98-07-17/dsm.html
For your info.
To: EdReform
That Dr. Spitzer quote I just referred to in the post above was in your referenced post about the work of Irving Bieber (whose name, when I cited it in a Salon thread, elicited knowledgable hoots of derision and contempt -- the stock in trade of the self-acknowledged gay "PC terrorists"), for which I thank you, both for the post and the link.
