Hugin posted, Davis now has a bill heading his way that will drastically increase taxes on SUVs, pickups and minivans and increase gas taxes. If he signs it expect him to drop another 5% in the polls.

This is a big time no win for Davis. It is all most like Burton did this on purpose.

If Davis signs this Communist Global Warming attack on owners of safe vehicles to raise more taxes for the tax and spenders, he could lose the vote of every SUV/pickup owner in Kalifornia.

If he doesn't sign it, he could lose a lot more of the green communists who voted for him in the last election.

He has his you know whats in a huge vise grip. It is a no win situation for him.

For once, thank you, you worthless communist POS, Burton for putting Herr Davis right into this vise grip!

I just posted this:

California: Political equation holds up well for state governor races
And formula says it looks like Gray Davis will be re-elected for a second term

It would be fun to force the academic types to have to do additional work on their MODELS!

The news that gets out in the lamestream media is that Davis has a small lead, but is a shoo-in for reelection. So, this is good news.

If he doesn't sign it, expect the Green candidate to pick up at least another point or two from Davis.

A huge win-win for Simon.

"A clear demonstration of the failed Davis strategy is seen in the Sacramento media market, as Davis faces his worst numbers in the market where his negative ads are running the most. A whopping 68% of Sacramento area voters want a new governor - making this a stronghold for the Simon campaign. Adding to the irony, the only area of the state where Davis is ahead of Simon - the San Francisco Bay Area - in one of the few parts of the state where the Davis ads are NOT running. Russo expressed hope the Davis campaign would soon launch the negative spots in San Francisco because "we want to win in every part of California."

LOL...keep up the good work, Californians, this would be a huge get for the GOP...MUD

Only two congressional seats are really up for grabs by the GOP in CA (regardless of Davis' performance)-- CA-39 (where Loretta's sister Linda Sanchez is running) and in CA-18 (Condit's old seat)-- but I'd take that in a heartbeat.

Every $, 5$'s, 10$'s and $25's that Freepers send to the Greens to elect, Camejo will take away votes away from Davis.

If Davis votes against the new SUV taxes, he will outrage the watermelons who voted for him in the last election.

Here is Camejo's web site to donate a few dollars for the red legged frog and clean Spotted Owls: (Green Camejo's web site for donations to "help" him)

So please to help stop evil SUV's and for the Spotted Red Legged Owls/Frogs send your donations to: (Green Camejo's web site for donations to "help" him)

A major problem for Davis is the growing support for Green Party candidate Peter Camejo, who gets almost 5% of the vote, mirroring results in other polls. The 5% threshold is usually considered for inclusion in statewide debates. All of the minor candidates combined receive an unusually high 9% of the vote. The Camejo attack on Davis for forsaking principles in favor of campaign contributions seems to be taking hold, as disaffected liberals are finding an alternative to Davis.

This is something that needs to be exploited. The Dems have been taking their far-left base for granted. This sank Algore in Florida. We (conservatives and libertarians) need to make these far-left liberals see that their party does not represent their views anymore. It's not that we agree with their views on government; we don't. But, they must be as frustrated with the Dems as many of us are with the "Country Club" wing of the GOP. If they truly believe in their socialist politics, then they have to force the Democrat party to hew to those values.

There are two things that have to be emphasized to the far-left. The first is, obviously, that Davis is not the socialist they want for a governor. He's been playing too much footsie with big corporations like Oracle. And now, to make up for his horrid mismanagement of the State's busuness, he's raising taxes on the poor. To keep his corporate footsie partners happy, he's raising taxes and fees other than the income tax. These are regressive taxes that hit the working poor far harder than the do greedy corporate gangsters. (OK... so your liberal buddies might think that you're being a bit over-the-top if you, a conservative/libertarian, start calling corporate officers "gangsters", but you get the picture.) The increase in car registration fees is an example. The latest version of the budget nearly doubles the fees. These are deductible from your Federal income tax if you itemize. The working poor, of course, do not itemize and bear the brunt of this tax hike. This is not what socialists claim to stand for. "How can you support a candidate who raises taxes on the poor while protecting his rich, high-rolling friends?"

The second point that needs to be made is that Davis is losing this race even if he does get the socialist vote. He's alienated too many moderate voters. Thus voting for Camejo as a protest will not throw the race to Simon; Davis has already done that himself! Algore lost in 2000 not because of Green voters in Florida, but rather because he couldn't hold Democrat strongholds like West Virginia and his home State of Tennessee. Those socialist voters in Florida who were sending their old Party a message did so without "cutting off their noses to spite their faces". Gore had already lost before any of them came face-to-face with a butterfly ballot. They same is true for Californian socialists. The guy claiming to be their candidate has already lost. A protest vote for Camejo is safe to make since it won't change the election's outcome. But it will send a message to the Democrat big-wigs that their far-left base cannot be taken for granted. (This is, of course, a benefit for us since the far-left is out of step with the electorate at large. Getting the Democrats to kowtow to them further alienates moderate voters. This also allows more conservative/libertarian GOP candidates to run successfully against far-left opponents. That, in turn, removes the major RINO argument that a conservative/libertarian candidate cannot win against a moderate Democrat. By shifting the Democrat Party leftward, we can shift the GOP to the right.)

If you'll remember, Nadar polled as high as 9%. The Dems went haywire(much like some do here on FR) with all the "vote for Nadar is a vote for Bush" hystarics. Gore ended up winning by 12.(which I still don't believe, Something like 1 million Absentee votes were not counted, supposedly in districts that wouldn't change the results, and 1-2 million illegal aleins voted using what WND said was a voter registation card (I'm sorry I don't remember what it was called))

Yep, the old communist from the Gay Kapitol of the World, San Franciso, Burton has handed Gray Davis a hand grenade with this Suv tax. Then he has pulled the pin.

Now Davis can drop it and have to live with the loss of more watermelon votes.

Or he can put the grenade between his legs and sign this new tax on every SUV owner in Kali. That will cost him at least 500,000 to a million votes.

If he signs it, we can have every suv and in California with bumper stickers saying:

SUV OWNERS - DUMP DAVIS!

Don't be too sure. Soccer moms who drive SUVs are notoriously ignorant and repeatedly vote against their own husband's paycheck. Their husbands either can't reach them politically or have just given up.

OK, one would hesitate to say, but no matter what the polls say today, Mr. Simon shall have to be running like he was twenty points behind right up to the last day of campaigning in November, and take out spots all over the state on the eve of election. What the heck, keep the spots on all day long on Election Day.

Great! Two request from your skills to the rest of us.

Can you make a large one pager for the rest of us.

Then, how can we down load this data onto a 3.5 floppy disk and take it to a Kinkos for printing to save our printers?

I have a lot of people who will take the one pager and the regular sized one disk to Kinkos and print out large ones for their garbage toters (great to get the word out for a couple of days) and then make bumper stickers for their friends, others and themselves.
