There is no way on God's green earth that CFR would have even been discussed in the Senate if the Republicans were in control.

The Senate isn't the center of the universe. The CFR bill came out of the House... The House with a Republican majority.

If you want to know why the Republicans don't have a majority, don't look to one man (Jeffords) look to the Republicans themselves. I frankly don't see any difference with the Senate now than when Lott was so called leader.....The Democrats were always in charge, they just didn't have a majority.

'Unbelievable. Rush almost comes out and says Bush=Clinton...'

Rush did not say that at all. Rush was ugsing an analogy with Cliton to make a point. Rush agrees with Bush over 80% of the time, but Rush will say when he thinks Bush is wrong. Rush is not anywhere close to the "Bush=Clinton" club.

Progress back toward political freedom will be no faster than the re-acceptance of the rightness and necessity of freedom by the American people. When they stop saying "there oughta be a law" and return to "mind your own business," we'll be able to see some real motion.

There are days when I fear that one will sooner see the Chicago Cubs and the Boston Red Sox winning a World Series than see our fellow citizens quit saying "there oughta be a law" and return to "mind your own business". But then, there are days when I remind myself how right John Chamberlain was when he said there was no obligation to be "with history" (or with the majority) when history (or the majority) is headed toward an abyss.

You bring up a good point. Maybe it's time to refresh the Republicans in the House...

Okay. I've had enough of this. Too many people are mouthing this meaningless drivel. Time to shoot it down to hell where it belongs.

That's nice, Tuor, but you're going to have to be a better shot. If you're going to call my comments (and those made by others) "meaningless drivel", you should be prepared to convince me I was wrong. You didn't even challenge my main point - which is that people don't have all of the information available to the POTUS.

People, we live in a *Republic*. We are *supposed* to comment on these sort of things. We are *not* supposed to just blindly follow whatever our leaders condenscend to tell us (assuming it's even true). We are *not* supposed to be sheep. The President *is* expected to inform the people of what he is doing and why, not so as to endanger intelligence assets, but certainly so as to keep us informed.

I have no problem with comments and questions, as long as people understand that they don't have all the information at their disposal that the President of the United States does. As a matter of fact, the wife of a former Navy pilot told me something recently that made my jaw hit the floor (I won't repeat it) - and that made me realize that there are a lot of things we DO NOT KNOW. My point is that people here play armchair President all day long - which is fine - but they should realize this is NOT a made-for-TV movie. This is serious business. And without all the information, we are all essentially talking out of our butts. Understand?

Wake the heck up! Are you listening to what you're saying?

Yes. Are you? Are other people here?

PS This post was directed at everyone saying 'Bush knows and we shouldn't comment', not just the person I'm responding to.

I appreciate this - but I'm not of the opinion that people shouldn't comment. I think they should either stick to what they know, or acknowledge that they don't necessarily have all the facts. This mindless use of President Bush as a pinata (and there is plenty of it) is just as damaging as the attitude you so passionately argued against, in my opinion.
