Amazing story. Saw a woman from the Red Cross *try* and defend this on Fox today. Lame. And she simply could not bring herself to defend the US Constitution either, which she said was a 'political document.' Of course the Red Cross is a very political organization, and the IRC is leftist. These people are a disgrace.

I've been looking for this on the web and can't seem to find the story. Drudge does not have it yet. It was not on MSNBC's site as a story. **shrug**

No wonder it's called the "Red" Cross. Aren't they the ones who took 9-11 donations meant for the families and spent it on "diversity" advertising?
This is why they don't get my money. I hope one of their shills calls asking for a donation.

Well of COURSE its a political document. What she meant was that it's a political document like the Communist Manifesto is a political document. They are equal in her mind. The Constitution is just something to fit a certain point of view, one she would not endorse per se. She said it might 'offend' some people.

Someone better come up with some new charities fast, the Red Cross and the United Way are going to tank, just like K-Mart, Ford, and everyone else we don't like.

I need to find out more about this story:
I had a beef with the Am. Red Cross a few weeks ago and this information would be very important to me. Here's some of the response I got...
Dear Mr. Facemyer,
I was forwarded your attached message from the Illinois-Missouri Blood Region of the American Red Cross for further clarification of your questions. If my understanding is correct, your concern is that the ICRC is being overly critical of the U.S. Government, and therefore you are withholding blood and monetary donations from the American Red Cross, and consequently needy Americans, in protest.
Hopefully, I can negate some of your concerns that the ICRC is overly critical of the U.S., which isn't necessarily true. ......[ SNIP ]

I sent a message to that chapter stating that they would not receive a donation of blood and/or money from me until I see a written apology...

Can you tell us what the story is? The Red Cross stopped some kids for singing?
To: PRO 1
I saw FoxNews do a segment on it this afternoon. John Gibson had the teacher who headed the choral group and some woman representing the Red Cross.
Basically, the Red Cross was having a ceremony to honor the RC volunteers in Orange County. This group was supposed to sing, but the RC didn't like their choice of material as it might "offend" some people and the Red Cross (is claiming) to be a-political, and sectarian. The offensive tunes included America The Beautiful, Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA, and another tune that was written for Columbine (A Student's Prayer, or something like that).
The letter that was sent included a sentence that read something like "... and the Declaration of Independence might be considered offensive by some." (I think they were listing things that could be considered offensive, like the use of religious or patriotic material.)
Anyway, it seems the Red Cross of Orange County believes the Declaration of Independence to be an offensive document.

Good job Liz. I know there will be news sources more thoroughly documenting this story and will replace this thread.
