To William Tell & others, RE: #15 & 18; - (An interesting & relevant thought from another thread:)

Until Reagan came along, so-called moderates had just about ruined the California Republican Party. Earl Warren, Goody Knight, Tommy Kuechel et al. And don't give me Nixon, "We're all Keynesians today." California Republicans didn't invent me-tooism, but they sure fell in line.

HTML Lesson Bump!   &npsp; = a mistake/ my typo. If you want to insert a space in a HTML document, the first "p" should have been a "b". That would = a HTML space. Use several, & get multiple spaces.

I am right here fighting. I left the Democrats because their defense of Clintonism made me sick to my stomach. I clearly remember the day that I went down to the Registrat of Voters to change my registration. I couldn't bear another moment of being associated with the evil I was witnessing. The non-trial of Clinton in the Senate was a fitting example of what the Democrats will defend. I will never forgive what they did.

My switch made possible the victory of Bush over RINO McCain. There is no way that I could have any part in allowing Gore to be President of the United States. That man is one of the biggest fools I have ever seen. I am proud of Tennessee that enough of them saw through him.

Golden Gate said: "I will suggest that the greatest problem is not that the leadership is wrong; the Greatest problem is that the everyday Democrat voter doesn't KNOW... "

That the Democrat leadership is wrong I agree. The reason that the everyday Democrat voter doesn't KNOW is because the biased media doesn't tell them. The media tells them lies by commission, omission, and innuendo.

During the election my local rag published pictures of Gore and Bush on the front page. Gore was above the fold, standing full figure in front of the flag... Bush was below the fold, face only, with an unhappy expression, and his picture was only about two thirds as large. An equally large picture of a man smoking a cigarette through a hole in his throat was next to Bush's picture.

That was long after I had cancelled my subscription. On seeing this garbage, I called a friend and talked him into cancelling. The decline of newspaper readership is, at least in part, caused by their insidious, nation-destroying bias.

I usually type on Notepad, which doesn't have any spell-check capability. I just put my original post on Word, & I now see several typos. Sorry about that. On something that I consider important, I'll use a spell-check in the future.
pregnancy; opposing; etc..

persuade Democrats...

Not possible. A true democrat has his personal identity tied up in his party affiliation. That affiliation is higher than his love for country or the constitution. Hell, how could you love the constitution and belong to a party that advocates so much (more than the republicans in fact) unconstitutional garbage?

From my Northeast relatives now approaching retirement - when you really dig - you'll find the reason they are democrats. They believe democrats in control assures they can get back some of their tax money that they have paid all these years in the form of benefits now that they are approaching retirment. I can at least understand that logic.

Thanks for your Post & info. Definitely need to take that into consideration when talking to fellow Dems.

However, I am a life-long Dem from a family of Dems, and I was persuaded. First, I was disillusioned w/ the 'environ.' movement. Then, it's a baby, not a blob, - it's child, not a mere 'choice'. Economics & taxes... 2nd Amd. The purpose & role of gov't. Nat. Def. & foreign affairs, & failed Dem administrations... etc...

True Dems, remember the important principles. The *regressive* 'dems', have forgotton, ignored, or rejected the important principles.

Your remarks give me a muted hope. Perhaps there are still people in the democrat party, Scoop Jackson democrats, who would like to take it back from the McGovern Wing. Frankly, I'd thought they all left the party by now.
