Could be... I think it is a great idea coming!
To: JenB
Yes, but he very clearly doesn't realize that they are going to show up. Frodo has a pretty good idea that they'll show up at Crickhollow:
"I fear those Black Riders, and I am sure it is unsafe to stay in one place long, especially in a place to which it is known I was going." "How soon could the riders get to Bucklebury?"
And Merry confirms:
"But, of course, Buckland cannot resist a determined attack for long. And it is possible that in the morning even a Black Rider that rode up and asked for Mr. Baggins would be let through. It is pretty generally known that you are coming back to live at Crickhollow

Did you save any nitrite-laden, cheese smothered, mushroom covered pizza for me? I was drooling on the keyboard when I read you had started without me!
Wings, pizza and a pint or two -- who can beat that for a second supper?
To: Monkey Face
Yes, I saved some for you but it wasn't easy! Pizza is a hit with the local hobbitry, except for Ted Sandyman who's a sourpuss anyway. We ended up having a pizza party and I showed them how to make the stuff.
The wings should be ready this afternoon (in fact I'm ready to start cooking them now) so we can have a wing-pizza-pint party in Took's Corner.

I fell off the list too, please put me back on.

I show you on the list! - but you must have missed the pings! The Green Dragon moved... over to the new General Interest Forum!
The Green Dragon Inn II
We copied highlights from the first five chapter posts, and have continued on over there for the the last two chapters. We will be starting Chapter 8 - Fog On The Barrow Downs.... on Friday.

Hello! I saw a few TV teasers a few weeks back saying that LOTR was going into a second theatrical release, this time with a three minute trailer for the Two Towers. I can't find it at any theaters...Are there any in Atlanta now that have this movie going on the screens? I only managed to see it twice!
To: Mamzelle
You may be able to find it still in theaters. It is still playing here at a couple. Yes there is a 4 minute preview for TTT attached to the end of the film now. If you are on a fast internet connection, you can download a bootleg copy of the TTT preview
here.
By the way, this is not the current Green Dragon thread. See the link two posts up if you want to join the current conversation!
Good luck finding the film still in your area... (maybe search for theaters on Fandango.com) By the looks of the preview, The Two Towers looks great!

You found the OLD Green Dragon! - You are close but not quite in the right place.
This one only went up through chapter five... we finished the book in the new forum.

The first several posts are long summaries of this thread, and then the chapter discussion starts... I would recommend going to the end and backtracking up to the last chapter post.
Tomorrow (I think) we will start TTT but on a new thread... I will ping you.

In the 1920s, the Chinese tile game Mah Jong became
popular in Western nations. Among the game's 144 tiles
are four named "The Green Dragon", although the green
Chinese character engraved on them means "begin". In
Doyle's 1927 Sherlock Holmes tale "The Adventure of
Shoscombe Old Place" an inn is named "The Green
Dragon". Later, in Tolkien's Lord of the Rings one of
its Middle-earth inns is named "The Green Dragon".
THE GREEN DRAGON INN
tune: Back in the Saddle Again
http://jbott.com/baknsad.mid Well, down at The Green Dragon Inn,
Who knows who might wander in.
Holmes and Watson once were there,
Said they needed Berkshire air.
They stayed at The Green Dragon Inn.
You might see there strange folks
Telling their funniest jokes.
Though their hearts fill yours with mirth,
They might hail from Middle-earth.
They're there at The Green Dragon Inn.
Come from near and far
By train, horse, or car,
Here great adventures begin.
Come from near and far,
We're all at par
Here at The Green Dragon Inn.

Long has this old mathom of a thread slept .... until you awaken it with an interesting post about Green Dragons!
Oh you can search far and wide,
You can drink the whole town dry,
But you'll never find a beer so brown,
As the one we drink in our hometown.
You can keep your fancy ales,
You can drink them by the flagon,
But the only brew for the brave and true,
Comes from the Green Dragon!
