I disagree; the great unwashed won't make that connection, and the White House knows it. If the WH is motivated strictly by politics, which I don't think it is, then the politics is on their side. It won't be seen as petty to try to recoup what has been WH property for decades, possibly centuries. It will only serve to remind the public what of low-rent, no account, pieces of white trash ruled last.
