That is pure BS. The requirements, guidelines, and restrictions are extremely stringent, and to overcome the hurdles set in place by them (educational level, English speaking ability, technical knowledge, and other merit-based factors), make it a daunting task for anyone to get one.I work for INS , and the H1B program is a rubber stamp program. The guidlines were set so youraverage Indian could obtain an H1B, if a US Comoany would hire hire him. It is also a backdoor for Immigration. Nearly 50% of all H1B's become resident aliens. Also, since the recession started, the number of new H1B's has not decreased.

I know all about that. A friend of mine up in Seattle is an INS worker who detailed the process for me too. He's just disgusted that he sees some corporations just grossly abuse the system. It's a rubber-stamp, and corporations can abuse the system with impunity due to the large loopholes.

Bullseye. Every week I see two or three new H1B's from India, going to large corparations, who just anounced hugh lay-offs.
If INS had any balls, as soon as a company anounced any lay-offs, INS would cancell all H1B's that work for that company, and save a few American jobs. IMHO.

You'd just salivate at the opportunity to regulate my ability to conduct my small business, wouldn't you? Nope .. I just want a free job market that's not rigged by the government against the citizens here. The American job market determined that tech worker salaries would be high and that tech workers would have more leverage over their employers.
You and your fat cat CEO buddies lobbied for H-1Bs to drive tech workers salaries down for Americans. That's not patriotic or America-first.
Opposing H-1B is patriotic and America-first.
