Yep, euphemisms in the military are funny sometimes. The media's assertion that this is a "gas delivery system" is aimed at keeping people who don't know better from knowing that FLE is using military weaponry against citizens.

Just an idle thought, but was there any rust in the dirt underneath the weapon? Assuming that there's 10 years worth of rust on the gun, one might expect to see rust stains underneath a weapon that's been sitting out in the open for that long. A planted weapon wouldn't leave such stains; but, of course, we all know that it's not a plant.

Officals from the BATF said so? There's all the credibility you need. The BATF needs to be dissolved. It is the agency of lying and treachery. It should be condemned.

Yep, I would bet they have the same full compliment any Marine who carried one would be issued just before a big op. We're the enemy to them, they make that pretty plain.

You ought to email that mininuke .50 jpg to the anti-gun groups, I bet some of them are dumb enough to hold a press conference condemming the thing. Here's the funny thing about that. Birdman has another joke product on his site called the "Homeboy Night Sights" that you put on the side of your slide so you can hold your pistol gangsta' style and still shoot accurately.
A few months ago, some anti-gun group took the bait and issued a press release condemning the marketing of the product to gangs.
So yes, some idiot out there would probably believe it.

There are two spellings of his name in my copy of "Webster's Seventh New Collegiate Dictionary", Shakespeare and Shakspere. These are on page 1085 under biographical names and both end with an e. No matter, the discussion was all in fun anyway.

I remember that now that you mentioned it!

"You'll probably just get a random phrase from his catchphrase codebook concerning moose, cheese, or peaceful religions."
I just grow weary of the nay-sayers. Doing so is the easiest way out as it requires NO reasoned intellect or consideration. It sounds 'cute' to imply wrongdoing where no evidence exists! Kinda like that jerk that said the US was cowardly for launching missles! BTW, is he still around?

I posted a comment regarding this subject
Osama Bin Laden, the Kosovo Liberation Army and the .50 sniper rifle.
This is probably my first big bump so I hope I do not break any rules by including so many people.
PS: Heads Up-I included a statement by an anti-gun group that wants to ban this type of weapon. Please know I am pro-right to bear arms and I did not want to get flamed. I included that gun ban group to show that the issue of .50 Barrett sniper rifles in the hands of Islamic militants is a real issue not an invented haox and will be used against those that support gun rights. In fact one of our biggest counter arguments can be that it was under the Clintons that .50 Barrett rifles were exported to the KLA under false pretenses (as the article I linked you all shows)!
We will not be well served as gun rights supporters if we chalk up news like this to some sort of plot anti-gun plot.
To be forewarned is to be forearmed.
PPS: The rifle in question was not found near the Olympic village but it was within range of one of the event's runs. I just read that but do not rememember the link.

Welcome aboard, good post, don't worry about the multiple ping, that's fine.

--yep, the anti gun goons desparetly want to ban the .50 precisely because it can be such a counter tyranny effective weapon. Unfortunately, yes, the bad guys can get them as well. I've actually expected a concocted "incident" involving one of these. It's also the reason they went after bob stewart so hard, his maadi griffin was affordable, and was being sold. The barretts are outside the average dudes price range so to speak, coming in at around 10 grand equipped with a scope that does it justice and enough practice rounds to get good with it, etc.
