One thing I've never heard anyone say is, "If Dole had been president, maybe 9/11 wouldn't have happened."
Can you tell me, is that because everyone takes it for granted he had absolutely no chance of winning, or because people don't believe he would have stopped the terrorists?

Great post but I am way past digging in the ashes for the reasons why, when our borders are still an open door and the embassies of the world have issued 30 million new visas just last year and local law enforcement here and there refuse to cooperate with rounding up visa violaters and the ACLU is working day and night to get terrorist released back on the street.
I will have no more of their rambling we shoulda, coulda, woulda, while they refuse to enforce the laws on the books, while they want to brand us like cattle with a National ID Card, which they will then ignore while they continue to refuse to enforce the laws of the land and abuse the original purpose of the id. Government as a whole, State and Federal are looking inept at the least, corrupt and lawless at the middle, and dangerous in the extreme.

he [Dole] had absolutely no chance of winning...
I, for one, would go with the above reason.
