Dick Cheney due to health reasons decides to withdrawl his name from the ticket in 2004 after a very successful term as Vice President. He figures he can still stay close to the President and advise him in any way possible, but not have to deal with the every day hustle of being the Vice-President of the country. So who would President Bush pick to be his new VP? I think Condi Rice would be a wonderful choice but I dont know if this country (especially the Republican Party) is ready for a VP who is black, a woman, and from the South (Alabama). I also love Powell but would he and Pres Bush be able to work hand in hand as P-VP? Donald Rumsfeld is a terrific Sec of Defense and I think he would make a great President one day...maybe him being VP could lead us to 8 great years of a Rumsfeld Presidency after 8 great years of Bush. Other candidates that come to mind would be Tom Ridge, Liddy Dole, Ashcroft, and dare i say it...JOHN MCCAIN ( i know, i know, but i think the Bush-MCcain ticket would be a shoe in). My pick would have to be Rice, she is worth her weight in Gold. She is a genius, works well with Bush, and would really be great for the country. And what would the naysayers say after Bush nominates a black woman to be his right hand WOMman?? I think they would just have to throw up the white flag! GO DUBYA!
I think you are right. I think Condi Rice will be the first BLACK President and the first FEMALE President.
Every word in this post is false, including a, an, and the.
Yes!! I personally have never heard a Republican express any misgivings about Condi due to her race or gender. The fact that she might be pro-abortion, yes, that has been mentioned. But not her race or gender!
I honestly think that, despite their big talk, the libs/Dems are the true sexists/racists. Republicans are far more likely to look beyond that, to judge by who can do the job best, (at least in my experience.)
I love Condi and Rummy, but I do hope that Cheney remains as VP. He is terrific!
This is a lie, not a fact.
Three people as VP would make me consider voting for GW: Keyes, Buchanan, and Norm Weisskopf.
That didn't seem to hinder Hitlery at all.
The very fact that people are asking such a silly, inane, stupid question as "are they pro-choice...?" demonstrates that the sucking sound you hear is NOT conservatives undoing the rectal-cranial inversion, an operation so desperately needed...
So many of these so-called conservatives, are so arrogant, so damned smug in their moral righteousness, they can't even see that they're poster-children for the word "hypocrite."
They have no idea how ridiculous they look, to thinking people.
Pathetic...
I honestly don't think it would help very much. They would give her hell because she's articulate and conservative. McCollum in Florida only recieved 8% of the black vote.
It might impress the dreaded soccer moms, however.
Correction, your uninformed opinion is that the Republicans lose many many voters over the abortion issue.
The facts suggest that the Republicans gain many more votes than they lose by taking a pro-life stance:
As liberal Mark Shields has noted citing the liberal Los Angelas Times exit poll:
"Simply put, that translates into a Bush advantage on the abortion issue of 2.5 million votes in an election that Gore won nationally by more than 540,000 votes."
Where are your facts?
Nowhere on this thread as yet has it been elaborated WHY anyone in particular should have this role. I mean why they deserve it, not how much power and influence they might bring to the Republicans.
It all comes back to power, doesn't it? I'm going to reject EVERY party because they're after the golden ring of influence, start my own called the Tom Bombadil Faction, and let everyone else squabble and bicker over the crumbs from the table... because the fact of the matter is, I just don't understand the allure of this kind of power anymore.
It is, when my opinion is based in fact, rather than emotion.
Are you next going to try and convince me that X42 was a "good" president, because the polls rated him so highly???
Polls are crap. If you had any sense at all, especially with regard to statistical theory, you'd know that...
But then, you already knew this, RIGHT???
Especially when facts are important.
