I agree. I am surprised she mentioned the media, except Fox news.

..Ronald Reagan...."In him greatness and simplicity are one"...

I don't know how Mother Theresa could have paid Dutch Reagan a higher compliment than that.

Then, years later, she came to the prayer breakfast and publically called Bill and Hillary Clinton on the moral carpet for their support and promotion of the injustice of abortion...unforgettable.

That was one wise and courageous woman.

! Of course, Barbara Olson should win the Medal of Honor!!! Please! Let's do that, President Bush!

In your face, Hillary!

GussiedUp - agreed on the media. They are the one institution culpable - along with the socialists/communists/globalists and thug criminals that dominate the Demarxocratic "party" - for opening America up to the terrorist attacks. The major media whores deserve their place in hell right next to Osama and Bubbitlery!

What adding about our military personnel who are on the front lines fighting to keep us safe?

I also think I would remove the media and the entertainers from the list.

Hmmm. I have to agree. I'm a big, big Peggy Noonan fan, but she totally missed the mark on this one. This does not rate as one of her finer efforts, not by a long shot.

The President's first round of medals to go to genuine heroes, those who risked, and some who lost, their lives in defending the country on 9/11.

The civilian medal also honors those who made significant, non-heroic contributions to the country, and most of the list fits that category. Without arguing the merits of the individuals listed, they should at least wait till after the real heroes get their due.

Still, she does write beautifully. The paragraph on Mike Moran certainly brought a smile to my face. "...I suspect it wasn't sober...always nice to give a nod to royalty."

We're on the same page here...

We happen to have quite a few "heroes" stationed over in Afghanistan and just off-shore...You are correct -- A "civilian medal" should suffice as acknowledgement of "significant contributions" to the country. Well put.
