Lookie here - envirowhacko federal workers are caught defrauding the people and they get a slap on the wrist. They should be arrested, charged and put on trial. I wonder how many other so-called studies have been rigged?
Second thought? All of us who live in WA state should be writing to the Seattle Times to ask why they didn't consider this newsworthy. Tell them it's just another reason why their readership is slumping - they don't do the news unless it fits their agenda.

This is eyeopening...or should be!
This should be cause to demand reconsideration of ALL enviro-restrictions based on the presence of any "so-called" endangered species.
Is there a concerted effort to expand Fed power via landgrabbing? Everything 'til now has said, yes. This shouts, "YES!"

As a Lynx Lover, and a Pixie-Bob owner, I find this to be tragic news, as they have now cried wolf. Besides, I have never liked the idea of kicking humans out of anywhere.

Thanks for pinging me on this one. My brother is a PhD organic chemist who works for the federal government in the field of natural resources (fish), and he's a conservative. I just sent it to him. I can't wait to hear his reaction. Another brother is trying to keep the home he built (a wildlife refuge may be expanded to engulf his property)...he got it, too.
This is unbelievable. These people should be dismissed.

They should have been fired after a long long session of very public humiliation!

Just like the Jihadists, the Liberals can lie as long as it advances their agenda.

The frauds obviously never expected the hairs to be traced to the exact individuals. Who thought to do this? Did someone blow the whistle? Or was it a fortuituous observation by one of the lab scientists?

I know a retired forrester who was one of head guys at Gifford Pichot. I will ask him what he knows about this. He would have never tolerated such conduct.
BTW, if you have ever skiied at Mt. Batchelor, you may know of a trail called "Ed's Garden"; I know Ed.

Thanks for the ping. Planting evidence is ok for the envirowhackos apparently, and the Seattle papers are giving them a free ride. Disgusting...JFK

"It destroys the credibility of the hard work we are trying to do to track these animals," said one retired Forest Service employee. That's the shame in all of this. There are some good people who are honestly trying to preserve endangered species and are actually trying to further cohabitation, not sole habitation by the lynx or what have you. If it's true, this move only acts to paint all environmentalist and animal rights activists as extremist and hurts the cause of cohabitation.

I agree with you, whole heartedly. This is an outrage. I want to know the names of the federal employees, who were involved in this fraud. I think that since we are paying these con-artists, we deserve to know their names and the institutions with which they are associated. My guess is that they are from local state funded schools of higher learning and might be in danger of losing their jobs if their work reflects badly on the university. Maybe we can find a list of all the people who worked on the study .
