I rise above the level of houseplant since I, and 99.6% of the nation, do not swallow the Chicken Little rants of the LP.

No, you've simply made the conscious decision to view the world through Republican-tinted glasses and live in denial. There are dozens of news stories posted on this forum describing in great detail the new police powers that Ashcroft and Bush have given law enforcement to subjugate you of privacy and Constitutional protections. You just blow them off as LP Chicken Little rants. If you believe that just because Bush and Aschcroft are in charge that no government abuse will occur then you are truely a fool. Some suspects have already been detained for 8 weeks without charges being brought against them.

Do you believe that these new police powers will only be used against suspected terrorists? If so, based on what evidence have you arrived at this conclusion? Gun-control advocates keep trying to convince us that gun-control only affects criminals. Yet, we've seen that it affects everyone, not just criminals. We've been told by the self-righteous do-gooders and religious fanatics that the WOD only affects drug users. Yet, we've seen that the WOD affects everyone, not just drug users. So, how can a rational thinking person possibly believe that all these new police powers, supposedly designed to protect us from terrorism, won't be used against people who have nothing to do with terrorism?

Do you ever plan to add something meaningful to the discussion? Or will you simply make another glib comment about Libertarians and continue your rampage against freedom and limited government?

...the first thing a house needs is CAT-5 cabling.

Actually, the first thing a house needs is cable modem service.

The first thing civilization must have is a sound, intact, healthy family structure for the rearing of children.

At gunpoint if necessary, right Kevin? I mean, God knows there are so many people who don't know how to raise a family. It's a good thing we have people like you, who have no inhibitions about violating lives and property, to teach people the proper way in which to live.

...so many libertarians believe civilization can be had on the cheap, by paying mere lip service to families.

Never met a Libertarian who believed this and I'm certain I know far more than you. Just another lie of yours.

Only for the past two years? There have been Libertarians on FR for 5 years.

Our numbers are higher now than they ever have been in the past and are continuing to grow because you keep driving people away. Everytime you open your mouth another person leaves the RP and joins the LP.

Funny thing, I remember when the RP of California voted to endorse the idea of national ID cards back in 1994 at the state convention in response to illegal immigration. Another example of Republicans expanding government and subjugating the rights of everyone to deal with an issue. I remember people clapping and cheering because the RP was finally taking a stand against illegal immigration. They never considered the ramifications of a national ID card or believed that it would ever be abused. They believed that it would only affect illegal immigrants. No telling how many people changed their party affiliation because of that.

"You should be alarmed by the threat of chemical or nuclear attack."

Slightly concerned.

The risk to a typical person in the United States from terrorism is miniscule.

Heaphy and her political agenda are already in the ash heap of history. On now to more pertinent things: What a profoundly appropriate moniker for a libertarian is LeRoy.

Substitute "Hitler" for "terrorism" and you've got 1939. Do libertarians stand with Chamberlain or Churchill?

The nickname, I have had since 10 or 11 yrs. old. I never thought seriously about libertarian political philosophy until about five years ago, once I realized that neither of the two standard option parties had any concern for true, Constitutional governance.

Yep. Next thing you know, terrorism is going to conquer Poland, and then France.

I'm just quaking in my boots.

"Disagree GREATLY."

No kidding. I don't think readers of this forum were aware of that. Thanks for clarifying.
