Thanks for the ping. This is one speech by a lawyer which needs to be bumped all day long. The scribes and pharisees Jesus opposed were ruling the land with their libraries of commentary on the law rather than the text of the law itself. Does that sound familiar to anyone who has butted heads with the imbeciles here who will hold up a Supreme Court ruling as "proof" that the Constitution states something not to be found in the text?

"This is one speech by a lawyer which needs to be bumped all day long. The scribes and pharisees Jesus opposed were ruling the land with their libraries of commentary on the law rather than the text of the law itself." When a 'commentary on the law'; i.e., separation of church and state, is treated as de facto law by those who seek power unto themselves that is NOT contained in the law, liberty is lost, not protected.
The law IS that there shall be NO 'national' church. (No 'Church of the United States of America' as there was a 'Church of England'.)
That we would risk a government of 'pagans' was not the 'intent' of the writers of the Constitution. Godless persons are, well, godless. And, godless men answer only to themselves, or their human masters---not a pretty picture.

"The greatest dangers to liberty lurk in the insidious encroachment by men of zeal, well-meaning but without understanding." (Louis Brandeis) Sounds like a man with a true understanding of the problems inherent in a 'Peoples Paradise'(Marxist Socialism/Communism).
You cut off the opportunities of producers, to make opportunities for the unproductive, and 'voila', ALL become unproductive, and either the church or the state must take over. And, if the church has been outlawed or abandoned, the state becomes omnipotent, decreeing everything and producing nothing, IMHO.

You called it right. Once those farmers and ranchers are gone in comes the golf courses and condo crew.

Wonderful article... so far. But I have to run. So BTTT to finish reading this later.
To: d14truth
Yes, that's my point exactly. The pharasaical view of the Constitution put forth by tyrants in government through their lawyers is the vehicle with which our form of government has been subverted.

Where are your Granges? Asleep or running square dancesWe would be happy to let him know what we have been doing to fight this. Anyone have contact information?
To: farmfriend
Sounds like the kind of guy that could help disseminate the Grange's views. Try contacting him through Sierra Times, if they won't give you the info they will probably forward your message and position. Let us know how you make out.
Cheers.
