Elected officials have attended a number of funerals of "people they did not know" because of the horrible, tragic circumstances surrounding the deaths of these folks.
Allow me to translate, in case you don't fully understand that: It shows respect to the memory of the people who were murdered and it comforts a families in mourning. SEN. Clinton can't be bothered because their are no cameras and no way to raise money for a Presidential campaign.
In case you don't know it, this isn't exactly a Hillary-friendly site.

Simmons always gives a good interview. One of the best I saw was when Ben Stein interviewed him once.

If he had caller Id, the number would have a 914 area code- - -Chappaqua.

Yeah, FACTUAL hot air. Facts is facts, and you can't dispute what he says. I don't care how he presents it, I just like the welcome change of hearing the truth.

It's fine to be opposed to butt-kissing celebrities. I am all for taking Hollywood down a few pegs. Hell, I'd like to see the status of 'stars' put where it rightfully belongs, somewhere just above the status of junior staffers in a typical corporation.
But O'Reilly handled this situation all wrong. He didn't get the facts before he opened his mouth. As a result, Clooney ended up smelling like a rose and O'Reilly got egg all over his face.
If you are going to take on the slickest PR machine in the world, Hollywood, Inc., get your facts straight baby.

Though I sometimes agree with O'Reilly. He's still a pompous @ss and not as smart as he thinks himself to be.

I'm not clear that O'Reilly didn't have his facts straight. I am clear that Clooney thinks he's all kinds of brilliant because People magazine declared him the sexiest man alive.

I saw that one too!

Mike Gallagher is a borderline conservative, at best.
I have to wonder if his show is either free to the affiliates, or (better yet) follows the religious-radio model and PAYS the stations to carry him. The affiliate here -- presumably a for-profit, commercial station -- typically runs PSAs during local commercial breaks all day long (i.e. little if any sales) and religion programming in the late evening. When I've bothered to tune in, Gallagher hawks diet and other schemes during his show. So, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a percentage from that (thus, it could benefit him to give the show away). He's such a raving blowhard that I can't imagine why any respectable company would want to be associated with him.
Then again, the snake oil he's selling isn't all that respectable. So, I guess the pot's right. :-)

I'm not clear that O'Reilly didn't have his facts straight. He definitely did not have his facts straight, as he himself admitted on the air about two weeks ago.
He accused the Clooney 911 Fund of planning to distribute "77%" of the monies collected. False. 100% is being distributed. He accused the Clooney 911 Fund of not distributing any money as of the day of his broadcast. False. By that day $42 million had already been distributed.
Clooney came out and proved all this with the necessary documentation from the 911 Fund accountants.
O'Reilly blew it.

"Isn't Gene Simmons from KISS Jewish?" Hmmm, could be since his REAL name is Gene Klein!

Okay. I don't watch t.v. so I only know what's written about or discussed on the radio. Did Clooney come on O'Reilly's show with his evidence? Did O'Reilly first question where the money was, or did he state that he knew none of it had been distributed?
To: Khepera
Exactly. The advantages are: not having to earn money and pay bills and be responsible. That's hard work. And the street people can't handle the responsibilities involved. Even if you set most of them up with a job, housing, etc, within months they'll be back out on the street. To them, the street is easier, less stress. And that's just the way it is.

Okay. I don't watch t.v. so I only know what's written about or discussed on the radio. Did Clooney come on O'Reilly's show with his evidence?Clooney has never agreed to meet O'Reilly, nor has he been on O'Reilly's show, which brings us to another embarrassing tidbit about O'Reilly. Clooney claims that O'Reilly tried all day the day of the fundraising telecast to convince Clooney to allow him exclusive interviewing rights with the participants. Clooney refused. There is no dispute about O'Reilly's requests or Clooney's refusal. Clooney now claims that O'Reilly went after him on his show--sans facts--because he was still PO'ed about not getting to do those interviews.
Considering O'Reilly's ego, the charge is plausible.
Did O'Reilly first question where the money was, or did he state that he knew none of it had been distributed?
He reported that none of it had been distributed. If there were any caveats or doubts about the report, he didn't mention them on the air that first night. He just reported that none of the money had been distributed and that only 77% was going to 911 victims. Clooney at first was caught flat-footed and did not refute the charges directly. Two days later, however, armed with accounting documentation which he presented to the media, he proved that both charges were false.
O'Reilly admitted the mistake soon after on his own show.
