What bothers me more than anything about this thread is the cavalier attitude everyone has toward sexual assault on boys.

If the teacher looks like Petra Verkaik, it's not assault. It's a FAVOR.

The possibility that these accusations could be entirely B.S. is indeed something to consider. However, I've got to think that even the flakiest prosecutor would have checked out the story and found something there. That doesn't mean I believe every detail, like for instance the $25,000 for impregnating her ...

News stories about female high school teachers having sex with male students are a dime a dozen today. Do some Google searching and you will find literally hundreds of them. They rarely do any jail time; generally an exit from teaching and some kind of probation is the most that happens. The Mary Kay LeTourneau case is not really an exception to the rule, because she went further than most of them by having a student's baby and eloping with him.

Back to the case under discussion. If this woman had sex with a student, she should never teach again. If she did drugs with a student, she should go to jail. I was a hormone-driven teenage boy once, but I think I would have resisted this particular individual. PJ-Comix should really try interacting with a better class of woman ;-)

The whole thing is a salutary lesson from the public school system. I sympathize with the parents who have contributed to this thread.

Dennis Prager has had some interesting discussions about doing something because it feels good or because it is "natural." Prager notes that it is "natural" for men to rape women. It is civilization and decency which is supposed curb perverted desires.

Self control? If you are a kid and your high school teacher is Petra Verkaik and she invites you to her home and tries to seduce you.....I'm sorry but self control is just not in the equation in this situation.

At what point is self-control not in the equation? At the point where she invites him? I believe a boy who has made the decision to not have sex will not go with this woman. Do you think as many boys were having sex as teens one hundred years ago as are now? I don't think so! And why not? Because they were taught how to control themselves and how to stay out of situations that would tempt them. Teaching those kinds of morals seems to have fallen by the wayside and now we are paying the consequences of it in many, many ways.

That's what I mean. You're cavalier in your attitude toward children being sexualized. I understand that boys think of sex every other minute, but that doesn't mean that he should be encouraged to act base. Somethings are important enough to save, and one of them is yourself, so that your marital relationship is intense--intense because you have singular special love that no one else can experience.

I believe that self-discipline should be encouraged instead of bemoaning the fact that the boy blew his "piece."
