Both sound good to me—a whole line on and under the surface.

Various Japanese firms as silent partners....

>>Not only will Taiwan get the subs, they will get the whole submarine industry!

Really? Taiwan doesn't have a decent defence industry. You can't sustain yourself if you only sell arms to yourself.

>>He was very young at that time. KMT learnt a lesson from the defeat by CCP, don't drive away any good scholar.

Well, as I know, the KMT executed many communist "scholars" in Taiwan. Why did they spare Lee?

>>I can hear the CCP yelling "you guys better not build yourselves any more subs!!!"

The CCP doesn't care about what Taiwan is to build itself. The CCP cares about the arms sales into Taiwan.

>>The basic root of Chinese culture "Four safeguards and eight virtues" does not exist in China anymore.

The foot-binding doesn't exist, either. Why should the Chinese keep those fuedal junks?

Because the KMT was stupid. That's why it lost power in both Mainland and Taiwan.

No doubt India, Korea, Indonesia, and Vietnam will also be interested in a quality product, hehe.

Perhaps even the US, since diesel subs, I am told, still have their uses.

What's the ROC Space Program like?

If I were a betting man, I'd pick Australia's Collins Class. They seemed to have ironed out the kinks and the US came to the programs rescue which would probably give them the right to construct such submarines of 'certain' allies. There was a report a while back on a joint US-Aussie naval exercise where a Collins Class 'suprised' a Los Angeles Class SSN. Politically and economically, I can't see another option.

Great link, thanks, and a good bet—Swedish design, Australian manufacture, at which they have already have an edge.

On the other hand, what about the increasingly "Third Wayist" and ChiCom-influenced Aussie political leadership?

Too, some in the ROC are determined to build at least some of their own systems, which seems a good idea, given what they went through under the Clinton years, during which some of the ChiComs, in my opinion, seriously planned on the US administration forcing the ROC into their fold.

If they have learned anything, it is not to depend too much on others, which is a good rule for any truly independent Republic.

No doubt the ChiComs themselves see ROC "weapons-making" as an opportunity for further theft of technology, but of course they were doing same with the US under Clinton, and are surely heavily exploiting Australia as well, as they are Canada, when they are allowed to get away with it.

Best regards. S&W R.I.P.

You are just ignorant as a CCP member. You don't even know what I'm talking about. Well, I know it is far beyond your comprehension.

Your words are perfect example what I said "Chinese in mainland China are not REAL Chinese, they are communist Chinese". Think about it.

To enlighten your tiny knowledge of Chinese culture: foot-binding is a custom forced upon Hans by the Ching, not a traditional Chinese culture. Do you know Dr. Sun also wanted to get rid of this bad custom?

Let the red chinese have Tiwan! They have Hong Kong, and it only helped improve life, and relations with the US. So what is the problem? When our spy plane went down on the red Chinese territory, we were able to negotiate with them. They did not kill or abuse our spies! We were spying and playing chicken with their pilot! That is according to the defence experts in that area.

Our main problem in this world is ISLAM!!! do not take your eyes off the ball!! The Chinese were cooperative, they are more human than all and any of our so called moslem friends. Hey right wingers, give it a rest with the red China thing!!!

Yes, I agree KMT was stupid becaused KMT believed in CCP's words. This stupidity caused tens of millions Chinese's lives. So it was the KMT's fault those Chinese got murdered by the CCP. Yeah!

I'm lucky that I'm not stupid because I learnt the lesson, CCP just a bunch of liers and murderers.

As for your ignorant knowledge of Taiwan, KMT lost power in Taiwan is not because of KMT is stupid, it is called progress. Get it?

How can a BIG country like China and smart party like CCP could not even take down KimMon amd MaTsu two tiny tiny islands? Let me tell you why, a term has been used to referring CCP members for 70 years " Tu Fai".

As you KNOW, that does not mean anything because you are ignorant.

I believe now only Lee knows why he got spared. Did you forget Lee was young, not a scholar at that time? And KMT did learnt the lesson to welcome all scholar. Study the PC market then you'll be enlightened.

CCP believed scholars are the lowest class of citizens, you know why? Because CCP members are a bunch of "Tu Fai". They don't even know what is the essence of Chinese culture.

>>To enlighten your tiny knowledge of Chinese culture: foot-binding is a custom forced upon Hans by the Ching, not a traditional Chinese culture.

You are wrong. The foot-binding WAS a traditional Chinese culture that began long before Qing dynasty. The Manchurians didn't bind their feet, only Hans did so. I belive you need to read more history books.

>>Do you know Dr. Sun also wanted to get rid of this bad custom?

Yeah, Sun also wanted to get rid of Manchurians.

>>Yes, I agree KMT was stupid becaused KMT believed in CCP's words.

The KMT never believed the CCP's words. The KMT killed millions of the CCP menbers, but was defeated by the CCP.

>>I'm lucky that I'm not stupid because I learnt the lesson, CCP just a bunch of liers and murderers.

The CCP said "Down with the KMT" and it did so. The CCP didn't lie about it.

>>KMT lost power in Taiwan is not because of KMT is stupid, it is called progress. Get it?

It's the progress for the Taiwanese people, not for the KMT.

>>How can a BIG country like China and smart party like CCP could not even take down KimMon amd MaTsu two tiny tiny islands?

Militarily they can. Politically they dont want to.

>>Let me tell you why, a term has been used to referring CCP members for 70 years " Tu Fai".

The term for the KMT is "Gang of Chiang".

What's the ROC Space Program like?

Poor. It is just too expensive to maintain a space program.

Taiwan was and I believe still is assembling helicopters. The F-5 used to be assembled in Taiwan and actually I have many friends were in that operations.

Now Taiwan's major defense fighter jets are F-16 and French's Mirage which are all made by those supplying countries.

The air space R&D company used to be a goverment owned operation, now it became a private company and downsizing quite a bit. This shows Taiwan was not interested in maintain a space program.

Taiwan's goverment caught up with the outsourcing concept, buy everything from foreign countries because it is much cheaper.
This means those people in goverment saw something we did not see or they were completely screwed. I don't know. Only time will tell.

Taiwan's Chung-Chen military research institute was the brain of Taiwan's defense system, now it has been downsized quite a bit too. I knew few prople used to work there but now work in US.

Bump bump bump #113, 115, 116, and thanks much for your remarks in #119.

If I recall correctly, even anciently the Hakka never practiced foot-binding for women of any rank.
