"...an Arab walkout from the anti-terrorism campaign if Washington's military strikes against Afghanistan expanded to Iraq..."

What's the function of an 'anti-terrorist' campaign if it's not 'anti-terrorist'?

What is said in the Press and what is said behind the scenes are two different things.

Fine with me. Put Syria on the list of 'things to do'. Take no b/s from any of these countries. Bush said it well "You are with us or against us". There is no middle ground in this War on Terror.

2 for one Syria isn't that far from Iraq and can't fight a war as good as the Taliban

Hamas is a Syrian invention.

They're on the list of nations to bomb into the stone age.

OK Syria, let's try this chant: "We're number three, We're number three".

Sounds like a twofer. With Iraq we get Syria. Sounds like an ideal plan. Turkey, with eyes on territorial expansion, would be only too happy to help with ground troops. They have already slapped Syria regarding a dam they (the Turks)are building on the Euphrates.

a "fatal" blow to the international consensus

The international consensus is one thing. America's righteous war against terrorist groups of global reach [TGOGR] is another. Has the internatonal consensus done anything to root out and destroy TGOGR? Is TGOGR money still flowing in some international consensus countries? Is the scorpion making one last squeak before it is squished into the sand?

BTW, America has no territorial ambitions in this war, any more than it did in the war against the Barbary Pirates.

If Syria and other pi$$hole arab states want to get in the way of the next phase, let them move to the top of the list. They may feel a bit emboldened by their new found friends at the u.n., but they shouldn't let that go to their heads. Instead they should take a low profile. Stay off the radar screen, so to speak. Idle minds breed idle threats. Blackbird.
