our partners against terrorism, the Soviets

That's the RUSSIANS, Askel5, as in the folks who destroyed the cream of Napoleon's army. I'm afraid that reading a howler like this prevented my reading the rest of your stuff.

I made my first visit to DU tonight -- didn't surf for long, as it was making me ill. But it is hilarious that they are now calling the media biased against the libs!!!!

I considered registering and pointing out a few flaws in their thinking, but everything I read was so distorted!! I wouldn't know where to begin, and in one since, I empathise with them because I know how bitter I would have been if Algore had managed to win. I wouldn't care how politically incorrect it would have been, I would never have accepted Algore as our president!!!

In 2004, people will remember the golden days of the NASDAQ bubble and think Democrat Reagan Republican, and they will remember 9/11 and thing Republican. The truth is largely reversed, but that's not what counts.

they will remember Monica, the lies, the impeachment, the China technology sale, the lack of morals, the failing schools, the clinton recession.....It's beautiful. We must never let our fellow Americans forget.

And the truth is comming out. People know who let sept 11th happen, and it wasn't GW.
I love it. Liberalism is dying, slowley, happily, dying.

Algore never went into hiding. For that matter, neither never did any other president or vice president. Why anybody would want to kill a VP is totally beyond me anyhow.

Of course they didn't have to hide from terrorists, they were bought and paid for by terrorist!
Hillary took cash from a muslem terrorist group to help her win the NY seat for crying out loud!
Man, where have you been for the last 8 years! Talk about uninformed. Wow!

Just as I do not in any way equate "Americans" with the U.S. Federal Government career "public servants" ... I do not equate Russians with the "former Soviets" or whatever label you wish to slap on the unbroken collective of leadership that runs their country and -- since perestroika -- nearly all of their "private industry".

As I recall, Bush 41 had high ratings during and immediately after the Gulf War, yet he lost his bid for re-election. I don't understand how the public was so taken in by Clintoon/Algore's lies and distortions, but they were.

Bush 42 is riding high now, but we need to learn from the past and be better prepared to expose the Dems in the next election.

Haven't really noticed and don't particularly care. I am just a lifelong Republican embarrassed to have a VP in hiding.

it's common procedure to keep the leaders apart. If one falls, the other is safe. Who the hell are you? You need to get out more!
Do you know anything about goverment at all?

You know ... you'd think that -- after all these years of being incubated, trained, sponsored by the "Soviets" -- these terrorists toting their Russian-made weapons would be expressing a little outrage at being left holding the bag and taking the brunt of the US response.

So how come no complaints about the Rooskies having double-crossed them and -- for all Intents, Appearances and Purposes -- having joined the evil Imperialist US in an alliance to wipe out the terrorist cells the World Revolution confected in the first place?

Just another one of those thangs that jest don't make sense to old Askel5.

Hey, Luc! Did I mistakenly post something to you?

Apparently somehow I got a private freepmail you sent someone, and mistook it for a posting on FR. In any case sarcasm, in this case light sarcasm, since we are in essential agreement, seems to pass some folks by.

Gee, one of those 'the collapse of the Soviet Union is just a conspiracy to confuse us, and nothing has really changed' tin foil guys. I think even the Birch society has given up on this one. But what are you going to say to someone who thinks that our government is no more representative than the old Soviet Union.

Yeah -- visited their site tonight. Their excuse is that they don't have to support our President to support our troops. Since 99.9% of all Dems are dumb, ignorant liars, I don't see why we should care what they think anyway.

Alright, I concede that they have the right to vote -- but Florida proved that even that is too sophisticated for them to handle!!

Yeah ... but what I'm asking is how those tribunals were granted the authority (and abridged due process) that Bush has granted here. Was it EO or Act of Congress?

And, speaking of "Acts of Congress" ... I appreciate how serious they are about their support what with the PATRIOT ACT and all but ... until this nation actually declares a honest to God war against another nation or individual, I'm really a little weak on all the parallels to World War II.

If the articles cited above are correct and this is a whole new concept of (unending) war studded with intense military engagement as dictated by the sort of "national interests" which embroiled us in the Balkan, I suggest we quit taking comfort in how we used to do things and start inspecting more closely the shape of this new animal which is coming together very rapidly -- at home and abroad -- given how "unawares" and "ill-prepared" we were.

America has never had someone who blanantly lied to them, divided them, and caused them to war with each other before.
Other presidents at least cared for the people and the nation they were elected to serve, and not just for themselves or their chance to rule the world.
I'm sure the nation is now in shock when they think of clinton actually being elected.
I'm sure they've learned their lesson from all this.
Of course, there's always the really stupid voter who votes for that free handout, and there's always going to be the slop and sloth crowd who feel working for a living is just for "the rich."

You just don't understand. LLAN-DDEUSANT and his boys are frustrated at their lost chance to take out the Pres and the VP at once.

It's incredible, as an American, to watch as so many of my fellow citizens openly talk of torture and truth serums, sneak and peek, secret trials with secret evidence and other Soviet atrocities as being necessary for the survival of our freedom.

But it's truly unsettling to realize how much sense it makes when you think about it.

They've just been extraordinarily successful in utterly destroying our Common Sense, that's all.

Gramsci will be proven correct.

(Would you could come round the corner for a pint and a set by my friend John ... been too long. =)
