"It is still is "rough around the edges" in view of the fact I typed it as it came to my mind."

Art that springs directly from the heart is usually the most powerful...I'd recommend cleaning it up a bit and adding that to yer collection. By the way, if you ever want to interlink a website or something that catalogues "The Work of the Poet" to my threads, I will make the time to read them...I like yer stuff, my FRiend.

Thank you. I don't have a website. Here's one you may enjoy

The Pen, The Light , The Sword

The pen can inflame or inspire
the light, illuminate the dark
destruction is the purpose of the sword
if the pen and light miss their mark

The Pen
can inspire or inflame the
emotions of men
it can bring infamy
or it can bring fame

Its words can be used to negate
turning love into hate
its value lies in its power
to instill bravery or make us cower

The Light
In His wisdom, He gave us the light
to wash away the darkness of night
with each morning's dew
we can start life anew

The Sword
This is used to defend
and keep predators at bay
or it can be used to rend
all who stand in its way

Found this little article on my never-ending search for positive and patriotic pieces....

From: The Lost-Cause Syndrome (a POSITIVE article), by Barry Farber.

"THE TERRORISTS HAVE LOST. Consider what the terrorists wanted and expected at this point.

First of all, President Bush was supposed to have gone mad and sent cruise missiles flying instantly, willy-nilly into the supposed lairs of the usual suspects.

That indiscriminate response was to have set off a riptide of Moslem anger which would, according to terrorist dreams, topple every non-fundamentalist Islamic regime from Algeria to Indonesia and launch a billion Moslems in the streets screaming for Jihad.

The terrorists thought America's obviously non-serious response to the embassy bombings in East Africa and the attack on the USS Cole, plus all the earlier attacks, signaled the weakness of the new America. Little did they suspect it was merely the weakness of the previous administration.

President Bush and his team foiled them big time by deliberating, discriminating and delaying any response at all until targets, allies, ways, means and mood were ready."

P.S. Mud, John Ashcroft is probably too good for America. Hugs. (^:

Did you happen to hear Walter Williams on Rush yesterday? It was priceless! He even talked about secession (though I heard only bits and pieces because my kids were yelling, "mooooooommmm!") Rush will probably never have him on again; he is a little radical for the typical Rush crowd and the women never get his satire on Mrs. Williams.

Yep...I caught most of the first hour-and-a-half and Prof. Williams was nailin' it again.

LOL...naww, Rush'll have him back, as Professor Williams almost always brings up the States' Rights to Self-Determination and always talks about Mrs. Williams as "his property by contractual agreement." And that women who called him on the Mrs. Williams issue was just some whacked-out Lefty Femi-Nazi who was doing her best to sound offended. Whatever...Professor Williams has been married to the same woman fer 41 years and I'd be inclined to guess he's been a pretty good hubby, too.

You're welcome. I wasn't sure whether or not it had been posted before on the Canteen thread, or how many people may have already seen it. I was born and raised in the Navy and married into a Navy family. I will always identify with the Navy way of life, guess it's in my blood. :-)

Yep...you and me both!! My dad spent 30+ years in the Navy and I've often said that my brothers and I were more Navy than most folks who were actually commissioned or enlisted unless they made it fer AT LEAST a dozen years. My dad retired soon after Clinton took office bacause I believe he knew what was in store and wanted no part of it!!
