68-69, I liked your opening salvo so much I copied it, hope you don't mind.
Has anybody contacted Fox news about this? I think Sean Hannity might be interested.
Be advised your anti-American actions regarding Robert Thomas Northcut a decorated Vietnam Veteran are going to earn you the attention of more than a few media outlests.
Is this any way to treat a vet? What's the matter with you people, can't you see that at this time in our history, our soldiers are all that are standing between us and more 911s? This man did his duty, unpopular as it was. Now, he feels it is his duty to guard a monument. Is that a crime? For the life of me I just can't understand you folks. You stand up for the rights of any ethnic or political person whom you think is being treated less than sensitively. But just another Vietnam vet...he only gets your scorn and punishment? Give the poor man back his dog, find him a place to live that he can afford to pay for (and yes, I think you may have to find him a job...he doesn't seem like a charity taking kinda guy). And then, for God's sake, thank him for his service to our country. Is California trying to secede from the Union or what?!!

As I read this article I am almost overcome by my rage. Only the urge to vomit keeps my rage from overwhelming me. The only thing that keeps me from vomitting is the knowledge that there is a special place in Hell for people like the unnamed 'city code enforcer', the workmen who called the Sheriff's department and held Thomas until they arrived and even the Deputies that rousted him and sentenced his dog to death.
What in God's name is wrong with some people?

I looked up the newspapers via the Solano Beach Chamber of Commerce page. I sort of figure a well-written Letter to the Editor would do some good to shame these control-freak people in charge of Solano Beach ordinances into dealing with this matter the RIGHT way.

I went to the Chamber of Commerce website, sent this little dig to them (hey, it's late, it's getting silly! It's kinda fun!)
I heard that your town arrests Vietnam Vets and impounds their dogs. Do you do this just for your own city residents, or do you take Vets from other areas?
Will you be featuring this info in your tourist brochures? Are you trying to get tourist numbers to match Berkley's? I hope you do!!
Good luck with this new advertising campaign. I live in a major tourist destination area, be sure and let me know how this works out. Maybe *my* Chamber of Commerce can find a Vietnam Vet to kick around. I'm sure Fox New's tourism correspondent will love coming to your town. blu

Good idea, blu, to contact Fox newspeople. Another idea would be to contact PETA. Maybe they'd do something constructive for a change.
B4 & YatchMan ... I sent off all the emails as suggested. Thanks for the ping and the info. You guys do good!
GOD BLESS OUR MILITARY AND OUR MILITARY VETERANS!

I also e-mailed Shepard Smith at Fox...he always has an animal/human interest story on his 7 PM (EST) news show. I asked him to look into it NOW as time may be short for TJ.
