How gullible would you have to be to take a headline like this seriously without confirmation or verification Geez. That's what we're sort of waiting for, isn't it? Keep your shirt on :).

I wish people were as skeptical of what they read here, as they should be of NBC and CNN.

But while we're waiting, it's always good to add the voice of skepticism, especially when something gets lobbed into breaking news. Did you notice it's become a "post and run" thread?

Inflammatory reports like this one need to be verified by other more familiar sources, before posting. While I absolutely agree that ultimately such stories need to be verified, I don't think that such verification is a prerequisite for posting, SO LONG AS WE ACT RESPONSIBLY and include the proper caveats: "This is an unconfirmed report," or words to that effect.
Unfortunately so many people are so intent on posting "Breaking News" first, they forget the "News" part.

I've noticed that, too. Well-worn sources are suspect, but DEBKAfile always bumps to the top!!!

I agree with your exceptions, and would add one more; Knowing and trusting the poster. If they have a firmly established FR reputation, I will accept that they properly sourced their information before they posted it.

Is this story about 18 months old?
To: ipaq2000
... A "radioactive bomb" is not necessarily a "nuclear bomb". Big difference. I'm not that concerned yet. It could have been just be a nasty ammonia nitrate/fuel bomb dusted with radioactive hospital waste.
To: RKBA_Champ
I think this is an old story.

Is this story about 18 months old? You mean, is it the old old story about the "backpack" device? Could be. Site seems to be hebrew only :(.

No English version to that site. The story was pulled of the web now.
Can be two reasons: obvious one is the guy posted the story before he evaluated it. Second the Israeli censure blocked the story

I agree with you.
Posts like this will make FR'S breaking news similar to a broken clock.
Twice a day, it gets things right!

Sigh. So the earlier report about a terrorist being arrested with a bomb like that may be true after all, then. Should be time to end this idiocy soon, but it'll probably not happen before Israel elects someone a little less paralyzed than Sharon.
Its the government thats paralyzed not sharon. If he does anything the unity govenment will fall apart and you will need to have a new election.

Well, I have been needing a kick in the tail to get me back into my studies, guess this is it.
What Isreal needs is Messiah Yeshua.
