"How's that for myth making?"If it was a movie, it would be called...
"Wag the Afghan"

"Or someone attempting to look like the Anti-Christ, Travis and Harpseal are talking about a faked death, not a real one."
I believe Revelations only states that the head wound "seemed" to be fatal. This would seem to be completely consistent with Travis and Harpseal talking of a "faked death"?

he shows up Anywhere and he's dead

Sorry, I'm not familiar with Revelations, I misread you, all you said was "head wound," not "Osama really dies of a head wound and really is resurrected"
I guess the Anti-Christ is expected to fake his own miracles, he's sort of scummy that way...

Yeah, I admit I was kind of cryptic in my reference to a head wound. Sorry 'bout that. It's always dangerous to speculate about the meaning of events in the context of biblical prophecy, but when things like this happen, it's just as difficult to avoid. I have found the links about the Mahdi fascinating when compared to the little I do know about the End Times prophecies.

Seen this way, all of the rumors of "OBL is dying of kidney disease", "OBL is dead" etc could be rumors started by himself to increase the myth value if/when he makes his "miraculous appearance" on the balcony in front of the ecstatic millions.OBL needs to be discredited in such a way his own people will forever think of him as a "fart in the wind". The problem did not start with OBL, and will remain long after he is dead and gone. These people choose to remain in the 7th century, and need to be wiped-out.

If he shows up at all times tightly surrounded by 100s of madrassa trained 8 year old islamobot zombie kids, with ten thousand slum dwelling fanatics around them all, will we drop a smart bomb on him?
If we get lucky and a sniper manages to infiltrate the slums of Karachi, and shoots "Osama" in the head, what will happen if we shot one of his many doubles, and the real Osama is "resurrected" 3 days later?

Discredited: how? We are not even in the game in the opinion molding biz in the arab street.
You might as well ask Liberace to discredit the WWF.
And he's dead.
To: JA
A (survivable) depression in the west coupled with a defacto quarantine of the moslem world will mean starvation and anarchy for them.
In a decade, most arab moslem cities may resemble Kabul or Mogadishu, and no Western aid will be coming.

Good point. How can societies of people trained from birth not to ever question THE authority ever govern themselves?
To: Travis McGee
BTTT
To: Manny Festo; Travis McGee
Because Islam in many ways trains people not to govern themselves but to be governed by dictates, Muslim countries almost always are run by dictators.Ahhh... "Submission."

Then, have the real OBL show up a few days later with a bandage on his head. How's that for myth making? Now, that indeed would be diabolically clever of him. Unless, of course, such events are simply the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy. However, my understanding of the scriptures is that the Antichrist is to be a man promising peace, rather than the jihad of OBL.
Travis - RE your post 189 - Liberace and the WWF....very well put ! I suggest that, along with the food drops, the President's e mail pen pals program is another such attempt to influence arab opinion. I am hard pressed to understand the benefits of American kids writing to Qatari children about pom-pom cheerleaders and 300 channel cable. And would such messages make an impact on madarass students, even if they were on-line ?

Why does it have to be a fullfillment of biblical prophecy OR a diabolical scheme? Wouldn't a diabolical scheme also fit the bill?

Just thought it was time to link this thread...

Portents of the Imam al-Mahdi, the Moslems' prophesied deliverer of Jerusalem?

You certainly have a point that it might not be the "either / or" proposition but rather a plot which also fulfills prophecy. Jesus spoke of false prophets, of which certainly Mohammed was one. However it's difficult to envision Bin Laden in this role, except as a clever act, since he does not purport to sway or beguile the Christian faithful. What I was trying to articulate is that, IMHO, Mohammed tried to legitimize his cult by creating many parallels to what he found in the Christain and Jewish scriptures. Would it not be completely consistent for his heirs to appropriate the persona of the one who will engage a global battle for hearts and souls. In other words, a false antichrist.

To ensure his safety he will at all times be surrounded by millions of fanatics in densely packed slums where we can not bomb him or send in troops.Sounds like a nice test-case for application of a 20 megaton airburst to me. Ice the guy and all his wannabes.
To: Dukie
I have no idea, I am not much into Biblical end times theory.
I am really only postulating that OBL may be molding himself into the Mahdi in order to lead the world Jihad against the West.
What Christians will make of him, I don't know.
