Arab Nations Defend Islam's Image

MANAMA, Bahrain -- Six Persian Gulf nations agreed Wednesday to launch a media campaign to combat the spasm of anti-Arab sentiment that has followed the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the United States.
The oil-rich group proposed setting up an English-language satellite television channel promoting a better image of Islam and Arabs to viewers in the West.
"We are putting our efforts together as ministers to reach all media in the Western world to explain our position that all Muslims and all Arabs are against terrorism," Bahraini Information Minister Nabil al-Hamer said after chairing a closed-door meeting of information ministers from the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Some Muslims complain they have been the victims of a backlash in the West since the Sept. 11 suicide jet attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
The hijackers identified by authorities are all Arabs, and the United States blames Osama bin Laden of masterminding the assault through a global terrorist network that recruits Islamic militants to attack U.S. targets around the world.
Violence since Sept. 11 has been blamed for hundreds of reported attacks in the United States on Muslims and Arab-Americans.
Hamad Ali al-Sulayti, assistant secretary-general of political affairs for the Gulf Cooperation Council, accused Western media of connecting Islam with terrorism.
The Gulf Cooperation Council is a loose political and economic alliance of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
Abdulrahman al-Attiyah, Qatar's undersecretary for foreign affairs, praised his country's Al-Jazeera satellite television station, which has emerged as a key opinion maker because of its independent editorial policy -- a rarity in the region.
It also has become known for airing taped statements by bin Laden, and by the spokesman for bin Laden's organization, al-Qaida.

Interesting point. Up to a point.
Sure, Christianity has had it's dark parts. So has Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and any other religion on earth.
Couple points that separate them from Islam tho:
1) When Other religions kill, it's because a man has commanded them to kill. WHen Islam kills, it's because their god tells them to kill.
2) In virtually any other religion, admittance to the equivalent of Heaven depends on doing good deeds. In Islam, killing other HUMAN BEINGS, is what gets you into heaven (Jennat)
Have you lived under Islam or Sharia Law?
You ought to try living as a Dhimmi sometimes. No property rights. No religious freedom. Women are treated much worse than we treat our dogs.
Have you read the Koran? Or did you just skip over the parts about boiling the unbelievers in oil or boiling water? Or slicing off fingers. Or slicing off hands and feet from opposite sides of the body? Or slitting their throats? Or raping women? Or stealing plunder?
Have you read any Islamic History? Or did you skip over the part about the Emporer Arangzeb? He killed 10,000 Hindu's a day, in the worst ways that he could imagine, FOR A YEAR, not because they were criminals, but because they simply wouldn't convert to Islam.
If Islam gets the upper hand, I GUARANTEE you that your church will be torn down and you'll be left with three options. 1) Convert to Islam. 2) Live as a slave. 3) Get slaughtered.
Don't tell me it can't happen. India's lost over 10,000 temples to the depredations of Islam since the 800's. Priests/Priestesses butchered. Gods mocked and destroyed. Temples torn down and replaced with Mosques.
You're comparing Islam with a religion. It's nothing of the kind. It's a rallying point for arabs around the world.
How do you think they got to russia? That's thousands of miles from their stomping grounds in Arabia. THey butcherd their way in over centuries, that's how.

It really doesn't care to me how a wo/man prays or who he prays to. It don't affect my life in the slightest.
Islam on the othe hand WILL eventually come for me as it's come after it's other tens and hundreds of MILLIONS of victims, simply because they wouldn't convert to Allah.

I'll admit to being seriously ignorant about Islam before 9/11. I mean, I knew about Mecca and praying towards it 5 times a day, the Crusades, Saladin, Attaturk, etc., but really didn't know that much.
What I have read and seen since 9/11 makes me think that we've got a holy war on our hands whether we admit it or not. We had better face reality. I hope that the message from the White House is just for-public-consumption-only, designed to lull the Islamists into false security, and that war plans are based on what I see as the true reality of ongoing Jihad that *MUST* be countered.
The terrorists have been mass murdering innocent people in the name of Islam, they are the ones who brag about the connection between Islam and terrorism as one and the same, regardless of whatever affirm the Western media.
Very few and in sotto voices Muslims leaders have condemned strongly and publicly the atrocious crimes committed by members of their faith in the name of Islam.
I've known about it, but it took 911 to put it into perspective for me.
Since the early 600's, Islam has been terrorizing whole continents. Europe, Asia, Africa, now North America.
But it's only in the past 50 years that we've had a chance to truly tune in to what they've been up to with telecommunications.
Their successes have been breathtaking. Not because their really good at making war, but because their savages. The rest of us are programmed to peace and loving our neighbor.
Islam only loves thy neighbor as long as it's a fellow muslim. Everyone else isn't even quite human.
That's why they feel free to lie to us. Because we're only Kafir/infidels/unbelievers. They don't even consider anyone else on the planet to possess human intelligence. Their women are half a step above the animals so are we only a half a step above the animals.
You're dreaming. Arab males are indoctrinated in this from birth til age 20, 8-12 hours a day, everyday. They memorize it.
Do you really think that it took a lousy, what? even at best 50,000 "fanatics" to make the inroads that they have into europe, Kashmir, Chechnya, Malaysia, Asia Minor/Byzantium?
No. It took millions to do this.
These "people" or "fanatics" aren't terrorists at all. They're 1) Soldiers of god and 2) paid mercenaries, hired by muslim interests, trained and equipped by muslim interests, given refuge and any assistance by muslim states with the express purpose of converting the world to Islam, in accordance with the Koran.
What I believe is immaterial. THEY believe that they are soldiers of god. Bin Laden is their hero and commander. There are hundreds of MILLIONS of them out there that agree with his Atrocity on 911.
You've bought into the Islam is peaceful line. But I'll make a deal with you. You promise me to publicly prostletize on the streets for a month or two, I'll BUY you at ticket to Saudi Arabia.
You'll be dead or imprisoned in a week.
