People distrust her, and her husband; or rather, the Clintons tend to bring out anti-intellectualism.

That's only because, for some reason, people mistake the Clintons for intellectuals. If the Clintons were publicly known as philatelists, they would tend to bring out anti-philatelism.

People distrust her, and her husband; or rather, the Clintons tend to bring out anti-intellectualism. It's an ugly American past-time, hating the smart. It's everywhere, pervasive in all media, in the schools, in the workplaces, in the newspapers.

How interesting. Bill Clinton said: "I didn't inhale," and "it depends on what 'is', is". I think almost every person could see the obvious con job. The mainstream media supports those and similar con jobs. It is dumb to elevate a repeat liar to "nobility", but that's what the lamestream media does. It's clear that the population at large is smarter than the status-quo-con-job parasites -- politicians, bureaucrats, lamestream news reporters and journalists. I repeat the marvelous piece/quote of intellect that Hillary gave us: "fu*king Jew bast*rd".

My friend, you are a pretty new addition to our conservative website, and we are thrilled to have you, but remember the GIANT BARF ALERT.

You see, we Freepers have very delicate constitutions and we require notification something like this:

The ol'gal that wrote that one is a grade-A bigot - see that "small town" crack she made - and probably should be deported back to her throbbing metropolis, wherever that is, as soon as possible.

New York is not big enough for both her and the cops and firemen.

To the author:

They are working stiffs looking for a secure job from which they can retire in 20 years.

Yes - some of them were rushing up the stairwells of the Two Towers looking for a little bit of extra pension cash, n'est-ce pas?

Effing Clinton-loving New York elitists.

It's an ugly American past-time [sic--so "smart" she/he/it never learned how to spell], hating the smart.

And an ugly American academic pastime is to characterize Americans as "anti-intellectual" and politically "paranoid." Richard Hofstadter, a famous professor of American history at some Ivy League school or other about 50-60 years ago, wrote two books that said it all: "Anti-Intellectualism in American Life" and "The Paranoid Style in American Politics." They're both still standard texts in American history courses in colleges.

FReepers can always write to the guy who did this, you know. The man responsible is Grant Barrett. He's the editor of the site, and whether or not he wrote it, he should get the flames. His e-mail address is mail@worldnewyork.org. So let the deluge begin. I've posted my reply to him below.

I tried to sound as smart as I could. ;-p

ATTN: Grant Barrett
SUBJ: Heroes vs. Clintons

Yes. They hate the Clintons because....the Clintons are smart. And they are dumb. Now you, sir -- you like the Clintons, it seems. Why? Because you are smart? That's a tidy little worldview: that which you like is smart, because you are smart. That which you dislike is dumb. Let's take it a step further: that which dislikes that which you like is dumb. So we have two opposing qualities, smart and dumb; you, intrinsically smart, are the font of smartness for all else. The remainder of reality may either concur with you or oppose you, and in doing so it will render itself smart or dumb accordingly. The only free actor, the only point fixed (at least in its smartness) and yet unfixed (in its capacity to unilaterally redefine) is you. Bravo. So what was that again? Ah yes -- they hate the Clintons because the Clintons are smart; hence they are dumb.

What nonsense.

It is possible to love the Clintons and yet possess a high degree of intellectual capacity and moral integrity. Surely you agree with that. But if you do not find it possible to have those same qualities and loathe the Clintons, then you clearly do not possess them yourself. What a failure of perception and imagination; what a triumph of self-delusion to sincerely hold that the only possible grounds for booing and heckling the Clintons is -- what? -- a lack of basic intelligence! An inherent anti-intellectualism!

How, I ask, are you any different from the blinkered fundamentalist who rests easy in his assurance that those who disagree with him are the enemies of God? How are you different from the political extremist who convinces himself that his opponents are on the wrong side of history? You are not. Those who disagree with me -- they serve Satan. They are petit bourgeoisie. They are dumb.

You must be very proud. I hope you are, really. For there is a pleasure in pride; and with an ego so breathtaking, so monumental, I daresay you deserve whatever pleasure you may derive from it.

"Why would these people "boo" Senator Clinton? Not all did, by any report, but those who did are probably a part of the large number of the cops and firemen in this town are politically conservative, from undiverse neighborhoods..."

I'm so sick of reading that the cops' and firefighters' opinions don't matter because they are white and/or right wing. This is at least the third article I've seen that says just that, in so many words.

Boy, it sure is a good thing that leftists are so tolerant, open-minded, sensitive and inclusive! (sarcasm)

Is this Bulls*it for real?

. The lauding has gone so far that it now encompasses the schmucks, turds and rejects who clutter up what are otherwise decent professions, until those who are undeserving start to believe they are somehow worthy of the glory, the praise, the attention

If the SHTF, I want these "Schmucks, turds, and rejects" on my side.

the large number of the cops and firemen in this town are politically conservative, from undiverse neighborhoods, not educated much above high school, and as small-town as you can get and still be from New York City.

Most cops I know are conservative. Same with firemen. These BLUE COLLAR conservatives make this country. They are the backbone. Not you(writers of "World New York"). As for not educated much beyond high school, so what. They come from the best schools in the universe. The School of Hard Knocks. If you are robbed, WTF would a college education do? Who would you want on your side? Professor Smith? Or John McClane? I'll take McClane. As for small towns? Why are people leaving cities for small towns?

People distrust her, and her husband; or rather, the Clintons tend to bring out anti-intellectualism. It's an ugly American past-time, hating the smart.

We don't hate the smart. We hate arrogant jackasses like the Klintons. I'm college educated. I'm also from a blue collar family. I repect the blue collar professions as well. I'm not 'above' these people.

If you know what you're talking about, and you're confident, people think you're lying.

No, it's just that in small towns, and in blue collar areas, we have a damn good BS detector. We KNOW the Klintons lie. We know they don't give a damn about us.

So to "World New York". Two things. One, you are full of crap. Two, we are smarter than you. That's not an opinion. That's an undisputable fact. Why? It's simple. We aren't dumb enough to write this piece of crap article. That's why.

It really cracks me up when someone says that Hitlery, Clinton, and Algore are "smart". According to who? Relative to what? They might be diabolical, pathological liars, but they are not smart. They are all about creating whatever image is fashionable at the moment and are "clever" like a scheming used car salesman. I'd like to see Hitlery take a shot at some calculus.

The article is no surprise, in fact it is expected rhetoric from the Clinton Camp. Destroy those that present any opposition to you (in this case even heroic men and women). Remember how the media tried to justify Bill's affair by unearthing every possible affair by former leaders. The lib's are livid over a little booing, as far as I'm concerned those booing were just exercising freedom of speech. It's a wonderful thing!

The above is another Clinton Spin! I'd take this guy and the Clintons and send them to Ground Zero. Then they could decide who are the hers. 200+ firefighters and cops lost their lives saving thousands.. for a 20 year pension. A lost lifetime is a lot longer than a pension plan.

Talk about sour grapes. I find pieces like this truly fascinating. I am beginning to see a pattern...you might say a fallacy in commentary like this. It involves a truly suprisingly obvious gap in logic, something you would expect a "smart" person, or even a dimwit champion of smart people, to recognize in themselves.....in this case it falls somewhere between "Hillary got booed" and "those working class dummies hate smart people." I am beginning to bore myself, but trudging on....that leap the author makes to answer the question "why?" says so much more about the author's feelings and, perhaps, insecurities than it provides an explanation for the whipping Hillary took. The author is so very childlike, even childish, in her palpable inability to veil them ultra-sour grapes. Quite fucking humourous, and quite Clintonesque, I say.

Memo to Hillary Clinton:

I join the hero firemen and cops (and they ARE heros) in booing you, you psychopathic rodent, you arrogant narcissistic porker, you pitiful lawyer excuse for a humanoid.

I loudly hiss and boo you, your despicable disbarred sociopathic husband, the endlessly vile Janet Reno, and the rest of your DNC vermin for emasculating and corrupting the INS, CIA, Department of Justice, and FBI. You sold all of our nation's nuclear and missle technology to the highest bidder.

Your legacy?

War, economic hardship, death, and the blood of innocents.
